Despite have a smattering of known stars nothing about this drama took it above the average, and as such the 6 epsiodes mearly dragged out the inevitable end with the supposed twist in the plot.
From the start, the storytelling was laboured and at times, felt forced. None of the characters had any charm about them and failed to register has been even slightly realistic.
As with a lot of dramas, these days, there is an element of wokeness about it, totally unnecessary of course.
I stuck with it, hoping that it would become better, but by episode three started to use this fast forward button more than a few times. If this were only three episodes long, then perhaps it may have been more worthwhile but it's six episodes i suggest you give it a miss.

The story doesn't really stand up to scrutiny, but it's exceptionally well told and acted throughout. Ingrid Bergman at her innocent best and Gregory Anton at the manipulative murder/husband. When you think that this picture is almost 80 years old......well it really has stood the test of time.
No CGI, no crash bang wallop, just dam good acting. Watch without expectation and you'll be pleasantly entertained.
Perhaps one of the most surprissing casting was Angela Landsbury as the young, yes she was young once, as the flighty maid. A total difference to what she later went on to become. A must watch.

This ain't Hollywood, and if you're used to Americian, and 'America won the war for us' type war films then this ain't for you.
It's more case in the Das Boat type of film than U571.

A bunch of young men stuck in a metal tube under the water trying to stay alive and get back at the nazis. That's it in a nutshell.
The acting is fair enough, the direction is hit and miss and there are some scenes where you wonder what's going on.....this isn't a classic but watch it in a totally dark room just to get a feel of what it must be like to be on a sub.
Way better than some have reviewed here and worth a bit of effort.
