To the 80 and 90's generation Marmadesam especially Vidaathu Karuppu is a trail blazer. Detailing in every craft can be seen right through this series be it in casting, costumes, lighting, cinematography, racy story telling, plot progression through juxtaposing the past and the present and even upping the ante by having a female lead take on the belief system of an entire village. The creatives have showed the parallel quest of two characters -a. Reena the FL (a writer first besides being a doc) thirsting to debunk the legend of 'Karuppu' as a myth and also wanting to prove that it is a convenient fictional narrative used by some random blood thirsty man b. Nanda, another senior doc who inadvertently stumbles upon the mystery of Karuppu and some documented evidences that prop this theory of Karuppu. A systemic rational discussion is needed to take on mythological tales like Karuppu as it is part of the cultural narrative of rural Tamilnadu and writer Indra soundar Rajan (whose Vittu vidu Karuppa inspired this series) along with Director Naaga and team have therefore dealt with it in a cerebral yet entertaining manner.
