This is the motion picture rendition of Ian McEwan' novel "Atonement". The book is just superb & getting a movie out of it wasn't an easy task. The result has been quite interesting & close to the book, however it still lacks something.
The story is well known: on a hot summer in 1935 Briony Tallis, 13 years old, sees her sister Cecilia & her friend Robbie from a window in a way she cannot understand. She then says something about Robbie that will change the lives of everyone involved & she'll never have the chance to properly atone for.
The first part of the movie has been excellently executed & is faithful to the book, while the second part felt too rushed & half-done. The final act is completely changed from the source material. Overall is a great movie, which was hard to make 'cuz McEwan's work couldn't be put easily into a movie, so the filmmakers did amazingly.
The best part of the movie is doubtless the cast, from Keira Knightley to James McAvoy, they all have been marvelous.
This film is a must watch but beware: read the novel before watching it, it's the only way to fully grasp the mood of the story!

"A Dangerous Method" is the story of the turbulent relationships between Carl Jung & his patient-turned-lover Sabina Spierelein & Sigmund Freud. Both men are fathers of Psycho-Analysis but didn't see eye to eye on multiple issues, such as sexuality. Although never at war, their relationship became colder over time. Certainly Jung's infatuation for Sabina didn't help. In the end their paths diverged & Jung unlived both.
This film has an excellent cast, a solid plot & enchanting settings: however fails to impress the audience due to its lackluster theme. It's certainly enjoyable for whoever studies psychoanalysis, but otherwise is a bit dull. The historical context however is well reproduced.
