The plot and premise is simple in this documentary. 2 Polish men, who like millions of their country men in the 2nd world war, end up (following difficult days in soviet camps plus all the traumas that brought ) as refugees in the UK.
Somehow they buy an old forgotten Welsh farm for about £20 where they eke out a living . Very little is said about them - for instance why did they choose such a frugal and lonely existence? - but this doesn't matter .
There's an ambient atmosphere typical of the early BBC black and white documentaries and Burton's lyrical voice adds a poetry to the experience as we see the men in their simple day to day life . Working with their beloved cows ( each one with a Polish girls name ) and followed by their sheepdog , their devout prayers every night to a little altar . An infrequent visit from their priest who visits to give them Communion .
This little work of art isn't for everyone - but for those that understand, they will be struck by the poetry and art of this. Thank you iPlayer "From the archives"'category!

Came to this , being dishonestly.told that it would be a biopic of Bernardo O'Higgins, the Irish man who helped lead Chile into independence from Spain.
Having family in Chile, and having travelled there, I'm aware he is a national hero and many streets and important institutions are named after him .
I thought it would make fascinating viewing to learn about the man, who he was and what led him to chile and eventually forge the country to freeeom .
This film is total and utter rubbish . 25 minutes in ( by which time I gave up) I see this is a total lie, it has absolutely nothing to do with him but just shows some random Irish people in a room rambling utter nonsense, including a stupid old Irish woman shooting at the screen and rambling on about nothing .
I really hate this time of "clever " filming is so in love with itself and tries to be different and too clever . It's like an A level "film studies " project by a 16 year old trying hard to impress their teacher .
It is deceptive , wastes people's time and should be thrown in the bin or at least not lie and describe itself as a "biopic ".
Don't bother to watch .
