I chose to watch this film in theater because of the many, positive critical reviews. If you have lived or experienced anything in life you will find this film, at best, unbelievable and at worst, downright silly. There is not even one aspect of this film that creates realism. Okay, there is one; online-dating can be risky, particularly for women. I am very willing to suspend belief, which is why I chose to title this review, "Inconceivable", referencing the word Vizzini would state each time the Dread Pirate Roberts would survive one of his traps. In order to suspend belief, we need to identify with a character or characters and the characters in this film have dropped a couple of dimensions. This one is not worth a visit to the theatre or reviewing from your couch. I am equally disappointed in the film and the critics who have recommended it.
Talk to Me is an overrated and non-memorable movie. I suspect because the horror genre has so many lesser quality films this one received higher scores than I believe it deserves. While it is an entertaining watch with an excellent possession scene, it falls short of creating chills. Selon moi, it was not deep, complex, or compelling enough to make the hair on the back of my neck rise or create genuine fear. I had higher hopes based on the reviews and chose it for the All Hallow's Eve "Monster Horror Movie Night" (a throwback to the 80's SCTV era, where Joe Flaherty would introduce films as a vampire who howls like a werewolf).
Please do not waste your time watching this! If you can't help yourself, realize that what you see in minute one continues through minute 122. This may be the worst movie I've ever seen. My partner concurs (pun intended).
Some kind of awful. Aaaaaaaaaaaaagh
