Premam (2016): Its true that "Love stories end and Feelings Don't". Its been almost a year since I watched Malayalam Premam but sill it has its impact on me everyday. I always watch it whenever I get bored and still it feels new. That's the magic of Premam and when I heard about its remake in Telugu,I didn't even got any interest on it because I thought they will ruin it..So did they really ruin it?? Or Did they succeed??
Plot: Premam is about Vikram and his love stories different stages of life. It all starts at the school age where he gets attracted to Suma (Anupama Parameswaran) and woos her. When he is about to propose her he gets a shock from her. First love broke his heart. Next one is set in his college days where he loves his new guest lecturer Sithara (Sruthi Hasan). When everything is going good for him, he gets another shock. Second time he gets a heart break. Next one is set in his middle age where he is well settled as renowned restaurant owner and again he meets a new girl Sindhu (Madonna Sebastian) who is related to his past.
Plus points:
1)Performances: Naga Chaitanya is the major attraction of Premam. He has shown the variation to all three shades of his character. As a school kid,his acting is average but in the role of college guy and middle age,his performance is extraordinary. The way he expressed various emotion shows his subtle maturity. Especially in the heart breaking ending of Sithara story,Chaitanya's performance deserves applause. Praveen as Chaitanya's friend had acted extremely well. He deserves special mention. Srinivas Reddy gave hilarious performance and cameo of Venkatesh and Nagarjuna gets great response. Of all the actress,Madonna stands out. She is brilliant in the role of Sindhu. Sruthi Hasan gave decent job but to those who are connected to Malar may not satisfy with her.

Not all sequels are bad but also, not majority of them are able to create the same impact as that of its first installment. But rarely in a lifetime, a sequel surpasses it's original / first part. Now anything that comes close to it is Drishyam 2 in terms of level of satisfaction that an audience should get after a cinema watching experience.
Pulling a story out of thin air and creating such a masterpiece drama is not possible unless there is good content, crisp writing and terrific performances. There may be flaws but hardly derails the narrative. Overall a brilliant cinema from South again and perfect example for the concept of Sequels.

Watched the movie yesterday, the serum of rejuvenation that it injected into me yesterday is still flowing strong. I plan to watch the movie again possibly multiple times over this week. The movie has great humor, is amazingly truthful , beautifully heartwarming.
Against the backdrop of simple and unassuming friendships, portrayed with excellent humor, multiple tales of love are presented. All the love stories presented have the genuineness of everyday life. Spectacular things do not happen which makes it so relatable. There are multiple points in life at which one is enamored by someone else and typically things do not work out all the way each time until finally it does. That is all the movie is about - a pretty simple and evident aspect of life.
The movie is a total entertainer as it has great humor, presented with unabashed innovation, awesome songs, great scenery, timely stunt scenes to keep the pep up and most importantly the theme of love that flows through sincerely, straight into your heart, presented with all the vulnerabilities and insecurities that comes with loving someone deeply and giving someone else much more power than oneself.
Movie is novel in its presentation. The sequence of execution does not fit into any of the typical patterns. The movie presents three different time periods with the same characters which worked very well.
Alphonse Putheren has himself played a small cameo role in the movie which is going to endear him to the malayali psyche even more . It is clear that a lot of hard work has gone into the movie and it has been designed to be an entertainer and the movie has worked really really well. He is clearly masterful as the impressions his movie left on me 24 hours back lingers on pretty strong - it is not just the joy of love, the vulnerabilities, the sorrow , the excitement everything lingers on - hats off!
Just back from my third view of the movie. There is not one scene that does not deliver. You appreciate each and every scene and the movie comes to an end smoothly to a successful finish.
