After coming off watching the entire original 11 seasons of Frasier 11 I was hoping to continue the intelligent and witty repartee, the quirky personality flaws of each character, the well written dialogues and surprising comebacks, but no. You will not get that in this tv show. How depressing. I can't even believe some of the lines. They are poorly written and delivered by sub-par acting. Kelsey is the only bright spot. Forget the actors that play Freddie , Eve and David. Who writes the drivel they say? And the plot lines.... They say you can't ever go back and it's true. They have not been able to recreate the magic.
I now see clips of the original Frasier on YouTube shorts and they are such a treat. Makes me nostalgic. It seems we are in an era of Hollywood trying to recreate every good tv show or movie instead of hatching new ideas and concepts.

Agree with the reviews who say Esme did a very poor job of acting. If you turn off the sound and just look at her expressions she has awful body language, her speech is forced and her facial expressions look like she is perpetually annoyed. I think being British she just could not pull off the North American accent so it ruined her acting even more. The actor who played the PI was much more believable and acted like a normal guy. Unfortunately these Hallmark-esque movies always look Hallmark-esque and amateurish. Maybe it's the music and the script. I always hope for the best but am sorely disappointed.
I am always on the lookout for new shows to watch on Acorn. The British do great dramas so this one looked interesting. I thought this would be a modern version of all creatures great and small. As I moved through series 1 I quickly realized the writers wanted to keep the drama up to Defcon 1 on a continuous basis. The amount of dysfunctional and immature and over emotional story lines between all family members, staff and friends makes me wonder that they should all be in therapy, especially the children. Many characters have no moral compass or integrity. I think the writers tried to squeeze in too many story lines that clipped through at such a fast pace that it doesn't leave any time for the watcher to rest. Maybe they knew they only had two seasons to squeeze it all in. And forget any solid relationships. Someone will cheat or lie real soon. Very frustrating.
