I have a personal fondness for Laurel & Hardy. Even my son,at an early age, loved them also. Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly perfected Laurel & Hardy so well, not just in the routines they did, but the voices as well. I closed my eyes a couple times and I could swear I was listening to L&H themselves. References to other comedians of the time - Chaplin, Langdon, Lloyd, Abbott and Costello - helped make it real placing them alongside a few other great comic actors of the time. It is rare that we get a truly wonderful biopic of any of the great comedians, but this certainly ranks up there with the best. This should definitely not be missed. Enjoy it.
The fourth show of a new science fiction series and already a remake - a remake of two Star Trek Shows no less. It's same premise as "For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky" from the Original Series and "The Masterpiece Society" form The Next Generation. If that's what to expect from this series, then I'll skip it.
There is a very interesting item about this film that is not mentioned on the information page about the dog. Without exception, this is the only film that features the basenji, also known as the African barkless dog. I know of only a couple other films that show a basenji, but just briefly, one of which is "The African Queen", where, near the beginning, you see it for only a moment. The film gives a good depiction about the nature and characteristics about the breed. I can attest to it since I grew up with this breed and have been around them for over 40 years. It's a shame that the breed is not used more often. If only this movie were available on DVD!
