This is a quite decently done film adaptation of Charles Dickens' timeless classic "A Christmas Carol". Kudos to the script writing team for adapting the story in such a mannner that incorporated the cultural shifts in a believable & convincing way. With mosly quite popular & familiar faces, the casting was great for a Bangladeshi film where Zahid Hasan on the lead perfectly cast as the cold-hearted miser, Jahangir Scrooge [😁]. Both Soumya Joyti & Sadia Ayman maintained a warm screen presence through their moving performances in their respective roles. Absolutely loved those little emotional punches near the end that the director, Tanim Noor orchestrated pretty nicely. As it exceeded my expectations, I'll surely look forward to check out his future projects.
Influenced by popular Tamil franchise like Lokesh Cinematic Universe, this is Raihan Rafi's attemp to make his own cinematic universe. Probably there was a moving, decent story around the central character (Shadhin) but sadly that somewhere gets lost due to Rafi's desperate effort in making his own version of JAWAN (2023) meets VIKRAM (2022).
The script required 2 or 3 more rewrites as some of the dialogues were totally cringe worthy. As a BD cinema, you can't expect a better cast than this but the overdramatic acting mostly kills it for me.
For a commercial.cinema, the overall idea wasn't that bad actually but Rafi & his team need to give more attention for a better script and execution.

Set in the 70s rural Spain, director Javier Gutiérrez's THE WAIT offers a tragic Folk Horror tale that comes with familiar burnt yellow-ish color grading in a dry, sweaty landscape; evoking a feeling of despair & uncertainty in almost every frame,. The story takes place in the dark & mystical Andalusian countryside, a place marked by ancestral traditions. It follows Eladio who works as the groundskeeper of a hunting estate owned by the powerful Don Francisco. After taking a bribe from a local hunter, Eladio's normal life falls apart, plunging him into the depths of guilt, hatred, and revenge.
A pretty well executed Spanish slow burner that definitely deserve some attentions from then genre fans.
