I was there for the taping of this show. I can't recall what Claire Danes was promoting. I was more excited to see Steven Wright, who I had been a fan of since the mid-80's. Leno came out to meet the crowd prior to the show. That was pretty cool. And he was the Jay of old, swearing, and with that biting humor. He was not the watered-down "nice" version that he became once he took over as host. We had great seats. And I swear I made eye contact with Wright when he was on the couch. I think we locked eyes for about a minute. It was weird - but cool. As I recall, the taping took place at 5:00. And I think we waited in line that day for about two hours. It was worth it. I've got a tape of the show. And I saw us on camera when they panned the audience. A nice experience overall.

So no one has reviewed this thing yet? Travesty!

Gary Coleman stars as Joey Seymour, a little boy whose lone desire is to join the Boy Scouts. He's an orphan (who would love to be adopted by a loving family) who's been shuffled around from one foster home to the next. And although shunned by the other boys at first, he eventually wins them over.

Let's be honest. This is really sappy and cheesy. You can guess how it ends. But you know what? It's also a lot of fun. From Joey's proclamation to his mother hailing from "Pepsi Cola, Florida" to also describing his grandfather as having "the heaves." Awesome stuff!

This film also features a bunch of cameos from child stars of the past. If you look closely you'll see Robert Trujillo as a kid. You may know him today as the bassist for Metallica. Yep, that's really him.

Why aren't any of Gary Coleman's films on DVD? Shouldn't there be a cheap box set with this film, "Jimmy The Kid" and "On The Right Track?" Yes. Yes there should be.

I recently made a DVD-r of this film from my old pre-recorded VHS tape. If you have it, you should to. And watch this film! It's good fun.

Let's be honest. This movie is ridiculous. Everything about it is preposterous. But nonetheless it's a lot of fun.

The plot is fairly simply. A group of bumbling petty thieves decide to try for a bigger score - kidnapping! So they scope out Jimmy Lovejoy, the overly-mature son of a father and wife singing duo. Did I mention that his parents sing country music? What??? In spite of being kidnapped Jimmy grows close to his kidnappers. And they like him too. He eventually ends up helping them, while at the same time trying to steer them down a different career path.

Throw in Pat Morita as the blind chauffeur, Avery Schreiber as a crazy psychiatrist and Ruth Gordon's line about "wet panties" and you have a fairly memorable forgotten film.

Silly as it may be, I found it much more entertaining than it probably should have been. We can chalk that up to a pretty stellar cast. Why none of Gary Coleman's movies are on DVD I'll never know. If this ever comes out, I'll line up to buy it. Until then, I'll stick with the DVD-r I copied from my old pre-recorded VHS tape.
