This show has thrilling action scenes and the Terminator is obviously very threatening, I just... couldn't care too much about anything, nothing stands out or is particularly good about the story.
I'll discuss some things character-by-character. The show follows six main characters within three main subplots. The three adult characters each feature in a different subplot and each have their own twist to them, but I honestly didn't like most of the twists.
Misaki has by far the best twist and is also the character that has the most development. Gladly I'm not the only one who sees this. It would be better if the family in 1997 was introduced from her POV, then the subplot with her and the boys would also be told from her POV. There is however one action she makes later in the show that is really foolish and leads to some very unnecessary carnage, making her character far less sympathetic than required, or even needed to write that scene. She's supposed to be this noble loyal servant who protects the children, a noble goal, but the way that specific scene was written makes me unable to root for her or consider her a good actor.
Malcolm isn't a bad character, but he is very stale due to the nature of his subplot. Also, while his backstory makes a lot of sense and had the right amount of foreshadowing as a twist, I didn't like the story itself and would have liked it more if he was who you think he is at the start, or if this twist was kept as a heavy implication but never confirmed.
Eiko has too little screentime to really develop, though I like how she goes from being cold and badass to actually getting along with Reika. Her twist in the end however, felt a bit forced. The same can be said about Kenta, Malcolm's oldest and most interesting child, who also has a twist to him that I felt was shoehorned in the end, though in this case the twist is really good so I guess it's the opposite problem as his father's twist.
