A sensual Italian summer romance comes to life through the lens of Guadagnino, who brings a nuanced and detail-orientated 80s air to the film.
It is a conversationalist, slow burning work with plenty of atmosphere and texture to chew. There is a constant sonic hue of flies, nature and organic suburban sounds that bring the scenes to life. It's deep greens and blues and long one take shots make it feel very organic.
There is a visceral emotional intensity to the film that is distinct, relatable and complex. It gives you a lump in your throat. Hammer and Chamalet give an unflinching portrayal of complex, queer romance without hardly speaking on it. It is nothing short of masterful and a completely timeless work.

Delicately poignant. Toe-curling in moments, hands over eyes in others, grounded but nothing short of absolutely gripping. You were right there with them, all the time, which is a testament to the script and the cast.
Khan was phenomenal and gave outstanding performances throughout. This is completely moving and an ode to British filmmaking. The atmosphere built through the expressionist and nuanced cinematography was seriously next level and it's how it's been filmed that makes the picture so evocative.
That cold, bleak hue and fuzzy grain of a winter in working England is something I know strikes many of us watching. The complex interpersonal nature of family and our parents during adolescence. The nativity of youth and the regret and sorrow we so often feel. Craving that deep hug from a maternal figure, crying into their arms.
County Lines is a truly beautiful and timeless piece by Blake; a necessary work of catharsis, melancholy, bravery and poignancy.

It's a moving, tasteful and beautifully scored portrait of a wreckless, teenage son battling addiction and a naive, helpless father going to the end of the world to try and save him.
Chalamet carries the film with some masterful acting throughout the episodic journey of relapse and rehab. Namely, his micro nuances of opioid addiction and warmth and likability he brought to Nic.
The cinematography is crisp and warm and captures a suburban essence, which really cuts against the intensity of the situation. Many frames read like paintings and the score is stunning, mainly noting Nanou2 by Aphex Twin and Wiseblood by Zola Jesus.
It is also nice to see Carell shine in something such as this.
