This show ranks at the very top of my list of all-time favourite streaming series of the last decade. It far surpassed anything I've ever seen including some very popular award-winning British shows, which I am normally partial to.
The show follows several characters in a six degrees of separation plot across Istanbul's vast cityscape. Every character is a connecting thread to another and each character is more complex and wounded than they initially appear.
Netflix has a lot of excellent foreign shows that absolutely stand far ahead of anything Hollywood has produced. Since this is a mini-series it is like a snapshot of the characters' lives that felt very satisfying and completely once the final episode aired.

This film had the misfortune of being released in 2019 ahead of the pandemic and we all know how that ended. It totally missed out of accolades it should have received for its emotional script and unique plot. A lot of great performances in this movie, including Julie Delpy who is a heartbroken mother dealing the unexpected death of her only child (Zoe) prior to battling her uptight and cold ex-husband for custody. The little girl who plays Zoe is excellent as well.
For a Berlin set film, the international cast of characters speak English, which is totally fine as German would have made this movie feel less emotionally engaging for non-German speakers.
It's a science fiction movie that forces you to suspend belief about Zoe's fate. Delpy's character uses her background as an immunologist to make a serious judgement call that questions mortality and ethics. Set in modern times, two parents are then swept up in memories of their child and the need to find closure. Of course, for grieving parents, there will never be any closure.
