Another reviewer complained that many of the competing chefs were little known. I think that's wrong, although talented chefs not frequently seen on television are a real positive. The episode I am watching now (S1 E3) features Ann Burrell, Shirley Chung, Jonathan Sawyer. Hardly unknown. Chefs Claudette Zepeda, Hign Tesar, and Martel Stone are impressive. Other chefs are skilled and not out of place.
Marcus Samuelsson and Judy Joo are very successful in their culinary careers and both are capable and fair judges here.
Host Scott Conant may be more conventional than the spiked hair, jewelry draped Guy that dominates food shows on TV, but Conant is knowledgeable, respectful, articulate, and authentic.

One value of a show like this is the employment it provides to people involved in its production and promotion.
I wonder if the producers hired one or several people to downvote negative reviews and contribute 10 out of 10 scores at IMDB. Maybe it's a coincidence that some people leaving 10/10 scores have only one review attached to their profile. That suggests they're here to promote a program, not to write a useful evaluation.
This happens when productions outside the mainstream manage to raise funds that allow them to proceed. This usually involves governments and publicly funded agencies putting up a pile of dollars without any expectation of a return.

I suppose Curb will live on in reruns, but what an inspired way to end production.
Talking about nasty drunks a friend said, "Always remember that alcohol reveals the true self. With reduced inhibitions, nasty people act out the behavior their sober selves suppress."
The Larry David character has no inhibitions. He has the kinds of reactions that many people experience but choose to hide because they want to get along with others.
I doubt there is any other TV series that lasted 12 seasons while featuring a thoroughly unlikeable main character. Or should that be the main characters?
The final episode of Curb must have been fun for the cast. Many former players return to revisit past segments.
Larry David has spent much of his career doing groundbreaking comedy. It's sad if this is his final work, but what a career he's given us.
