I saw Superman on day one, and this is a film made for the comic book fans. There's lots of hard science fiction and technobabble. I'd say the demographic audience would be 35-50 year olds, who grew up watching the animated films and were aquainted with the comics. If you loved the original Richard Donner film then it's possible that you won't like this movie.
David Corenswet was a much more humanized Superman. He gets his ass kicked a lot and isn't exactly the most level headed Superman that people are used to seeing on the big screen. But for me, who grew up reading the comics, this was a very familiar Superman. I thought James Gunn wrote the character well and David is decent actor.
The star of the show however was Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult. He was written very well and delivered with great energy. He was a very formidable villain, despite not having superpowers. The amount of intelligence and technology at his disposal was pretty cool to see. There's some insinuations aimed at our real world current events, regarding Lex but I won't get into that.
Just keep in mind that you will be thrown right into the mix of things. If you don't know who the side characters are, such as a Green Lantern, and how they aquire their willpower ring, then you will be lost. This is no origin story film at all, including the origin of Clark and Lois' relationship, which was already developed. I wish there were less action scenes, because the running time could've been used to focus on that relationship.
Some of the action scenes were too long. Fight choreography and flight choregraphy weren't too great either.
Now, this is no Man of Steel. It is sort of a high budget CW movie. But if you're a Superman fan like I am, who owns 500 Superman comics, then a film like this will be welcomed highly, despite not being the greatest Superman film. I'll go 8 out of 10.

Based on a true story, Nonna's tells the story of a real life restaurant in Staten Island, NY called Enoteca Maria. Cast includes Vince Vaughn, Talia Shire, Lorraine Bracco, Drea DeMatteo, Susan Sarandon, and Joe Mangionello.
You don't have to be a big foodie like me to enjoy this movie, it's a story about building a family before it is about the Italian food. A single man who suddenly loses his grandparents and parents has trouble dealing with the void. And so he decides to open up a restaurant with a menu dedicated to sharing his family's old recipes, in hopes of reviving not only the food but the feeling he had growing up in his household.
The characters in this film are full of personality, and the tone of the movie is slightly comedic. The ending was predictable of course, being that it's a true story after all. The real owner of the restaurant actually wrote the screenplay. They couldn't film the restaurant scenes at the real location because the owner Joe would've had to shut his business down and so they filmed the interior and exteriors at Spirito's, a pizzeria just a few miles away in Elizabeth, NJ that recently closed down after almost 100 years in operation.
This is one of those passionate film projects produced by people who actually fell in love with this rags to riches story and wanted to bring it to the big screen. Bring your appetites too if you watch it, the ending of the movie will make you hungry!
