So if you enjoyed the first adventure of Enola Holmes, chances are you'll enjoy this movie. If leans heavily on the success of the first. Same style of storytelling and mystery solving. Let's get it right is this movie going to win an Oscar...no sorry. It's a sit down on a Saturday night and switch off. It's fun silly nonsense which to be honest I enjoyed. MillieBobby Brown is likable as Enloa and she does a good job making her way in the family business. Sad thing for her is that every time Henry Cavill is there (Sherlock) he takes centre stage. Which I suppose is what they were going for huh. You'll watch this once and have fun with it,will it be an all time classic ...doubtful .
I love the original lord of the rings trilogy,I enjoyed the Hobbit trilogy. I was looking forward to having that same excitement for watching this series. Alas it wasn't to be..
Let's start with the positives. It's a visually stunning show, everything from the buildings to the amor worn by our hero's looks great on the eye. The orcs etc again the CGI has done a good job of making them believable. Other positives include the Legolas/Gimli type bond between Elrond and Durin. Their friendship and interactions are one of the few highlights of the show bringing humour and love to a mainly drab showing by the rest. Having watched the series one each Friday night they seem draw out to the point where you can't actually tell what progressed in the last hour of viewing. The side characters fail to grab your attention and so you find yourself not caring about how their tales pan out. All in all I can't give this show a good score as it was a real chore to watch. I wasn't wishing the week away just to get to the next episode. Maybe I'm just pineing back to the early 2000's when the originals came out and we have the set battles of Helms deep etc maybe I'm older and wiser now. Or maybe just maybe this wasn't a very good show. The last hour of the series gave me some hope for the next season....only a fools hope though.
Let's get one things straight, anyone with a decent level of WW2 knowledge will pick up on mistakes. Uniforms, weapons, kit, tanks, trucks and even the traits and likeness of the main characters. The BBC don't see to care much for accuracy anymore with their shows. However watch this as Band of Brothers meets Peaky Blinders and you're onto a winner. The characters are all played brilliantly if historically inaccurately. The way they interact with eachother is also very entertaining and has you rooting for this tag tag group from the off. The music in the backround has you tapping your toes as the SAS drive across the dessert on their way to pick a fight with the Axis forces. The gun fights while over the top are a good watch. Switch off and enjoy it for what it is. It's not a master piece like Band of brothers but let's face it what is...
