Let me preface this comment by stating that aside from the opening blood shower, I really couldn't stand the first Blade. Not that the film was so bad, I just was not interested in it at all, maybe it was Wesley Snipes and Stephen Dorff that turned me off, or the pedestrian like fight scenes, I have still yet to see the end of the movie. Why did I even watch Blade II, you ask? One reason, Guilermo Del Toro. I love his films and that extra umphh he puts into familiar stories, I knew that he would do something different with the same old Blade, and he did. This film is so much fun, from super realistic fight scenes to great pussy gaping vampire hybrids, yeah there are plot holes but this is a comic book put on screen and in my opinion it is one of the best, and you know its the little things, WWE moves choreographed into climatic fight scenes, Ron Perlman, throw away lines that deliver, a great villain and a plentitude of viscera.

The other great thing about Blade II is the pacing, this flick moves like a bull through a china shop and never lets up. Yeah you know there are references to Aliens, to Del Toro's own Mimic, Lines from The Godfather, lapses in CGI rendering and some pretty bad dialogue but its all forgiven because this flick is a blast. Even Snipes fares better as the Rock would say "He knows his role" just be a bad ass vampire killer. Despite loving Blade II, I still won't watch the end of Blade though.

Man, I remember loving this film as a kid, I thought it was the funniest movie ever. Well I wasn't too sure if it still held up so I bought it and watched it. The first half of this film is friggin hilarious, from East Indian Skeleton farms to split dogs to rabid weasels I was in tears, well the weed helped but man it is still one funny film, the second half does have some great gore and one hilarious punch line at the end, actually its pretty funny through out.

The best thing about the film is the different ways the characters react to what's going on around them. Nothing funnier than James Karen beating a split dog with a crutch or Clu Gulager uttering hilarious throw away lines, like, "Great, it hurts to be dead" and "We lied those aren't rabid weasels". The more I think about it the funnier it gets.

Actually I did really enjoy Matchstick Men except for one glaring lapse in judgement and that was the "ONE YEAR LATER" epilogue. It completely killed the buzz I got from the first hour and fifty minutes.

First of all I might of come into this film with a different mentality because I was informed of a major plot twist before hand. It ruined the surprise but it did allow me to focus on the construction of the whole thing and not really get caught up in the father/daughter thing. It all worked pretty well, although the main scam seemed to rely too much on chance or rather the complete trust in knowing for certain another character's reactions to situations.

As always Ridley Scott makes a good looking flick and this one is no exception, I love the breezy look of the film, its funny that both Tony and Ridley Scott films seem to look the same but different, I am not sure what it is, maybe Tony uses more smoke, I dunno. Anyway this film looks and also sounds amazing.

The main leads are also phenomenal and it seems that for some reason they were all forgotten come oscar time, not even a mention leading up to the nominations which surprises me, especially Cage And Lohman,Cage with his ticks and twitches and OCD induced freak outs. He's just a great actor no matter what any one else thinks. Allison Lohman is a revelation. She kind of looks like Elisa Cuthert, but man is she good at playing a 14 year old considering that she was around 24 at the time. Sam Rockwell conisitently creates good characters and that little hint of a Walken impersonation made me want to hear more. Its a good film and if not for the ending I would be very dissapointed in its complete ommision from the Oscars. Although this ending doesn't compare to the horrible ending to Spike Lee's 25th hour.
