This movie is about Jack, a 5-year-old boy held captive since birth in a Room with his mother. Brie Larson gave a wonderful performance playing as Ma, the mother of Jack. I was impressed by the performance of young Jack played by Jacob Tremblay. For a small child like him, his performance was Oscar worthy. The movie is directed by Lenny Abrahamson and based on the novel written by Emma Donoghue with the same title. It received 4 Oscar nominations with Brie winning the one for best performance by an actress in a leading role.
The movie explores the complexities of living in isolation, without sun exposure, proper nutrition, and above all, freedom. Despite some minor weak parts in the plot, the movie delivers a strong story and enjoyed everyone's performance. I liked how the movie focused on Jack when out of the Room and how he was seeing the world like not being able to look people in the eyes or speak directly to them without speaking to Ma. The movie lacks music which I believe was intentional to add to the depth of the plot.

This movie, written and directed by Steve McQueen, is about the German bombing on London during World War II and how this impacted the locals at that time. Saoirse Ronan plays Rita, the mother of George played by Elliott Heffernan whom she had to evacuate due to the Blitz. This movie was Elliott's professional onscreen debut!
Cinematography and visual effects are great however found some scenes as quite sub-standard. I also found the acting in general as poor. Saoirse Ronan's performance was ok however she did not have much to do as the movie is mainly concentrated on George and his attempt to return to his mother. In my opinion this movie had much more potential however it was not utilised. I liked the close-ups during the movie like the ones on people's feet while walking in the streets.

I did not expect this movie to be this good! Josephine Bornebusch did a great job here hence my very high rating. She wrote, directed and was the leading actress performing as Stella, a mother who when faced with chaos and uncertainty in her family, chose the path of unity and reconciliation. She did this with strong conviction despite her opposing husband. I do not come across such a performance that often. She deserves all the praise for her contribution to this movie.
The movie, which is originally in Swedish, is about family relationships, parenthood, love, sickness, betrayal, and responsibilities. The plot is nicely written, and music chosen is spot on. Pål Sverre Hagen playing as Gustav, Stella's husband and Sigrid Johnson playing as Anna, their daughter performed really well too.
In my opinion, it is a good contender for the International Feature Film Award at the 2025 Oscars!
