I find Hamster and Gretel to be quite an interesting show. The premise of a little girl and her hamster getting super-powers from an alien whilst their brother Kevin gets nothing except to drive them around in the family mini-van. Their adventures make up the show, but there is so much more there than a simple children's show.
The musical numbers are good in their own right. The music is played as if it is a serious song, but when you listen to the words you realize it is actually very witty. Plenty of references that will go over the heads of kids, but with meaning for adults. Nothing spicy, just modern references that are funny in their song usage.
The main character actors do a wonderful job. Both Hamster and Fred with their dry humor are hilarious. Gretel is caught up as a little girl with super-powers, but she still wants to do little kid things. Kevin has the usual challenges of a teenager trying to get a date, but at the same time watching out for his super-powered little sister. PThe characters and their struggles to be good or bad are played for the humor. Listen to the voices as there are many famous actors playing characters in different episodes.
I found it an enjoyable way to spend some time watching a show that does was done simply to entertain. Hopefully others find it as much fun as I did.

An excellent show bringing some incredibly talented Welsh and other UK actors together in a quirky detective series showcasing the interesting characters living in an idyllic Welsh town. It is a concept that has been done quite often, but "Death Valley" adds a uniquely Welsh twist to things. To me it is reminiscent of the town and characters of "The Englishman who went up a hill and came down a mountain."
Gwyneth Keyworth is interesting as Detective Sargent Janie Mallowan, with a quick wit, good detective skills, and the tendency to say things that should have been kept to herself. She can be a bit overbearing and recognises it, which is funny in its own right.
Timothy Spall is wonderful as retired actor John Chapel, who played a telly detective in his most famous role. His character gets psych of the person of interest to determine their motivation. His relationship with DS Mallowan is parental at times, touching as they help each other with life's problems, and provides some wonderful interplay between them as they solve murders.
Recurring roles by Melanie Walter's as Janie's mom Yvonne and Stefan Rodri as DCI Barry Clarke add more quirky humour in their respective roles.
Overall I have found it to be a very enjoyable BBC/Welsh series bringing the right amount of humour and detecting to a charming Welsh village with characters you grow to care about.

Having never played the Minecraft game we had no basis for the movie other than it had Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Coolidge, and Jermaine Clement in it. Good enough for me to deserve a watch.
To me It turned out to be a fun, goofy, touching, and quite endearing movie. Black, Momoa, Brooks, Coolidge, and Clement chew up the scenery in a way that adds some lighthearted giggles. They obviously know what a kids movie needs from the adults and they provide it in generous quantity. The over-explaining is funny in its own right, but the serious fashion in how they deliver the lines make it hilarious.
The two younger actors, Sebastian Hansen and Emma Myers, are quite good in their own right. They bring the right amount of youthful angst as they try to honor their late mother's last wish, then turn into heroes as the situation dictates whilst the adult act like a modern Three Stooges.
BTW, do not miss the bit parts by Hiram Garcia and Kate McKinnon. Also listen closely to the voices of the Overworld creatures, you may recognize quite a few.
It is not Shakespeare, Austen, or Shelley. Don't watch expecting a performance on the level of British acting royalty. It is a fun family movie, enjoy it for what it is.
