This whole movie was miscast . It made me think, for example "that's Chris Noth playing Pompey" instead of the actors really disappearing into their roles. The strangest casting move was Christopher Walken. He doesn't even LOOK Roman! At least Chris Noth has a classic-looking face (for lack of better words). They tried too hard to make Caesar likable. I caught myself sympathizing with him during the first act, and even in parts of the second. Where is Octavian/Augustus during the movie? And who was Cato's son? I kept mistaking him for the guy who played Brutus. Still, I wanted to keep watching, I'm not sure why. overall.......6.5/10
p.s.: I was watching Clueless on TV just now and I thought the man playing Elton looked familiar. I quickly discovered that he was none other than Jeremy Sisto! I would have recognized him immediately except he had a full head of hair in that movie ;-)

This was a great movie! My favorite character was Harlan Pepper. The pine nuts thing was hilarious. My family rented it, and my mom & sister almost died laughing listening to him name nuts and do his ventriloquism thing. We actually rented it twice and my sister drove me nuts because she kept fast-forwarding through the yuppie couple's scenes (i liked them, but she didnt). My other favorite characters were the gay couple. The dog calendar thing was really funny! Another great character was the dog show announcer. The good thing about this movie was that the characters seemed real. Harlan pepper's southern accent seemed very authentic, and I know that there are many white trash couples (e.g. Gerry & cookie) and neurotic yuppie couples and people who treat their dogs like theyre kids in general. I strongly recommend seeing this movie!!!
