D-Tox is one of the worst Stallone movies. In fact, it seems to be a TV/Cable movie more than one that was released at theatres.
Let´s go to what bothered me about it,
1) D-Tox plot script is horreondous. 2/3 ideas (really cliched ones) make this film. The cross between two types of films (slasher + action thriller) does not go well.
2) Great actors but... what can I say about it? Kristofferson, Patrick, Berenger, Vance, etc to name some of them. All of them spoiled all over the film. Few acting (that is not a bad premise to a film of this characteristics) but as the action is also no good... could be a better thing to enchance dialogues and some acting of the named actors.
3) If you make a slasher movie, try to make it violent. If you make a slasher movie, try to make it suspenseful. D-tox lacks both. Its not violent (could be much more gorier) nor suspensful. All deaths are pretty obvious and you wont jump off the seat anytime during the 90 minutes.
4) Direction is awful. Dont understand why a director with a big budget did this. I understand that a lot of money went to the cast, but please...
This movie with another director could be much better. No style at all.
Rate it with a 3 out of 10.

This is another movie that shows the resurrection of Argentina film industry. Is clearly one of the best Argentina movies in the past years. Its very interest how the director shows Buenos Aires, not only in a decadent way as much of our films does (which is not a critic to them), and over everything, it´s original comparing to the what we have seen recently. Fabian Bielinsky has a different and interesting style of filming.
Ricardo Darin is excellent, the best of the film. Gaston Pauls made an interesting portrait of its character, and the secondary cast made the plot run smooth. A great story with a surprising ending (it reminds me of the "Usual suspects" one). Although this movie seems to have a lot of US independant filmography characteristics, it has an obvious Argentinian touch that make it a top movie.
I don´t agree with TomyGrau opinion. I think that Argentina cinematography is excellent, for an obvious reason, when you have a low budget to make a movie (with few efforts from the state, not knowing if it will be released in theatres, or will ever see the money invested again) you have to make something different and original to succed. They do not copy classics.
Lots of Argentina movies were original and they succed. Examples in the last 5 years, "Pizza Birra Faso", "Mundo Grua" or "9 Reinas", None of them have a message. They just tell a story or are a description of our reality. There are very few Tango-like examples around by now.
Best 2000 Argentina movie with "Felicidades" & "76-89-03".
Rate this movie with a 7.5 out of 10.

This is good movie. No more than that. A nice entertainment.
The acting is really excellent, more specifically the Tim Robbins character, although Jeff Bridges & Joan Cusack are great too. I have to say also that what were also amazing were the action sequences... very realistic in contrast with most of the modern action-thriller movies. The blood component is quite efficient here. Another thing to remark is the twisted ending it has... not a chance someone could guess it 5 minutes before it happens.
But the movie has one important flaw. In my opinion, the movie gets too long... there is a lack of action in the first 45 minutes that makes them sort of tedious, the film could be 15 minutes shorter. The other thing I did not like is the Jeff Bridges´s girlfriend character...
As I said, overall is a good movie, no more than that.
I rate this movie with a 6 out of 10.
