  • Good time at the movies (w/plot summary)

Plot summary: Franklin Hatchett (Tucker) is a small time con man who instantly becomes famous (or infamous depending on how you look at it) after he escapes from prison. Mistakenly wanted for murder by the police and wanted for robbery by a gang of crooks, Hatchett's only hope to clear his name and get out of this mess is a television reporter named James Russell (Sheen).

This movie was just a good time. After seeing Rush Hour with Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan, I wanted to go back and see earlier comedies with Chris Tucker in a starring role. (I already saw Dead Presidents, The 5th Element and Friday, but they either weren't comedies or he wasn't a starring character.)

Again, this movie was a good time. It doesn't deserve to win any awards, but it's just fun to watch. The entire cast offers great performances, while it's always good to see Paul Sorvino perform. While Tucker's character isn't exactly the nicest guy, the audience feels bad for him. The audience is made to feel that he does what he does because he has to. In his situation, I don't think many people would do otherwise. While he does take things to extremes, the movie wouldn't be as fun if he didn't.

I would recommend this movie to any comedy fan, "buddy movie" fan or fan of the actors.

  • Made to sell lunch boxes.

In essence, I didn't really like this one. There is only one facet that is better than the original, the rest of the movie doesn't even come close to being as good as the original.

The one facet that is better than the original is the actress playing Betty. This actress is a MUCH better job than the other actress that acted in the original Flintstones movie.

    Buy it? Ha! "absolutely not".

Rent it? A VERY remote "maybe"...

  • Pure fun. Absolutely enjoyable.

This film is a wonderful example of cinematic entertainment. It is also THE definition of a cult classic. If you don't believe me, watch this film in a theater. The theater experience is like no other. It combines the cinematic experience with live action entertainment and audience participation.

Below I have reviewed the new DVD re-release of the film

The Rocky Horror Picture Show (25th Anniversary 2-Disc): This review is easy. This is the best money I have spent on any DVD. Ever.

And, this is the best money I've spent on anything in a long time. However, I'm biased. I love this film. If you like the Rocky Horror Picture Show, this is the collection to get. It isn't just how they put things on the discs, it's WHAT they put on the discs. These discs won't be known for their menus (although I like them), there are two things that definitely make this collection worth picking up.

First, disc one includes an audio track that let's you hear a theater full of people shouting back at the movie. That's worth the money right there. (This is also a great way to learn what to say and when to say it.) The second fantastic inclusion is the subtitle track that tells you when to use your props.

This collection is extremely affordable, considering what they give you and how much it costs.

The two discs also include a musical number that the USA has NEVER SEEN! I couldn't wait to see this "Superheroes" number edited back into the film. I've been a fan of this movie for over ten years and I've seen it more times than I care to mention. These discs really impressed me. I would highly recommend this collection to any Rocky Horror Picture Show, Richard O'Brien or musical fan.

From The Back Of The DVD: "It was great when it all began..." Celebrate 25 years of midnight movie madness! The Rocky Horror Picture Show is an "erotic nightmare beyond any measure." Relive Richard O'Brien's sinfully twisted salute to horror, sci-fi, B-movies and rock music - a "sensual daydream to treasure forever" - starring Tim Curry (in his classic gender-bending performance), Barry Bostwick, and Oscar winner Susan Sarandon. Do the "Time Warp" and sing "Hot Patootie" with Meatloaf again...and again...and again...at home, or in a movie theater, where it will probably be playing for another 25 years!
