I wanted to see this when I saw the trailers in 2024. Guy Richie being the director was enough for me as I am a HUGE fan of his movies (not so much his choice of significant other...although that's over thank God). Anyway, if you're a fan of his, or a fan of movies based on true stories, or a fan of WWII films, or just a fan of a great guy's film that has a strong female character to keep your significant other interested, then you have to see this film. Henry Cavill, who is my favorite Superman since Christopher Reeve, is the lead chartacter and is truly excellent. Alan Ritchson (Reacher) is a Reacher-esque character as one of Cavill's seconds, kicking ass and taking numbers. There is never a dull moment and never anything disappointing which is the Guy Richie style I love. There's insane action with some very funny stuff mixed in that just makes you happy. The story is based on dialog taken from Winston Churchill's writings telling the story of a group of insubordinate, aggressive soldiers in the Royal Forces who are tasked with stopping the progression of German U-Boats causing all kinds of significant damages on the waters of the Atlantic as Hitler was rising towards his desire of world domination. This is before the USA got into the Euro war and England was feeling pressure to concede to Hitler. It is also said that this first mission was the core of the founding of the SAS and the precursor to modern day BlackOps. If you like movies like Suicide Squad, The Dirty Dozen or Uncommon Valor, that provide immediate satisfaction, then you must see this one. I haven't felt this good after a movie in a long time...maybe since "The Expendables".
