Bergerac is one of the few shows which, on many occasions, had unique plots or plots that had unique twists. It resisted the temptation to jump on any particular bandwagon. The 'hero', Bergerac, was neither hero nor the still-popular anti-hero. The writers often back-referenced with regard to the ongoing arc which took Bergerac from recovering alcoholic to lucky in love, unlucky in love, lucky in his job, unlucky in his job, and eventually back to the bottle again, without twisting him out of character to do it.
In my opinion, this show still stands the test of time and is more watchable than too many of the newer shows on TV today.

A truly worthy film from Ridley Scott. He has done his homework within the historical context of the story. All the locations had a unique atmosphere which only added to the realism of the film, and the whole production stands out as having the maximum amount of professionalism devoted lovingly to it, by all concerned. The first ten minutes alone made my heart pound, and I was hard-pressed to keep tears of amazement back. The film only got better from there. Everyone involved deserves an oscar. The film really puts the audience in the stadium along with the casted actors. This is how it was back then, folks. I have never seen anything closer to what the truth must have been.
