I saw magic last night. Sitting there in the theatre at six in the evening, about to watch one of the most anticipated movies ever made, I decided not to compare it to the book, rather I would enjoy it for what it was and not to nitpick it. What I saw was a stunning movie that substituted fancy action sequences (although there were some real knockout sections) for a heart and soul. Daniel Radcliffe was an AMAZING Harry. Not only did he look exactly the way that I thought he would, he has very good acting skills for an 11-year old kid. Rupert Grint and Emma Watson were also great. Rupert was so adorable and funny, and Emma's Hermione was just as I thought she would be-stuffy on the outside, but on the inside, a genuine and kind person. Professor McGonagall was amazing. Maggie Smith did a very good job of playing her. However, the kid who played Draco Malfoy was awesome! He was such a little snotty brat that you loved to hate him.
Of course, that doesn't mean that there weren't SOME action sequences. The scene where Harry plays in his first Quidditch game was amazing! The CGI was incredible, but the Quaffle wasn't round! That was kind of weird. However, that doesn't compare to my favorite scene in the whole thing: The scene where Harry sees his parents in the Mirror of Erised. That entire scene made me want to cry. Radcliffe did an amazing job of portraying the love and anguish on his face. He's a cutie, too! He's gonna be really cute once the series starts getting into four and five. The guy who played Oliver Wood really didn't strike me as a Keeper. The book describes him as burly, and this guy was kind of skinny. But still...I thought he was HOT!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, I was also captivated before the movie even started. And why? Because I was one of the 1/2 of theatres that got to see the brand new STAR WARS trailer, entitled, "Forbidden Love". I was not disappointed. Hayden Christensen looks like he's going to have no problem filling the Pinocchio performance of Jake Lloyd. The preview shows that he doesn't have trouble portraying real emotion. But back to Harry Potter. I wouldn't be surprised if this movie went on to break the records held by TITANIC. That's how good this adaptation is. See it!

This is comedy in it's purest form-it's raw, edgy, and it takes the happenings of modern America and smacks its face until it cries. Usually I'm crying from laughing so hard, however. This show, however, was at its best in the 1970s and early 1990s. Dana Carvey, Bill Murray, Jane Curtin, all of them are my comedy idols. The 2000-01 season, with Colin Quinn leaving (may his career rest in peace...sorry dude you were only funny as that guy from Ireland during the Cspan thing, update sucked with you), was, as someone else said, a renassciance period. The cast looked better, the quips were wittier, and, although some very prominent cast members that we loved are gone (CHERI!! MOLLY!!!! CHRIS!!!!!!!), this new season has already proved that the new generation of Saturday Night Live is alive and kickin'. Thank God that Ana and Will did not leave, they are amazing. Will Ferrell is the centerpiece with hilarious impressions (Jacob Silj, anyone?). And the weekend update is the funniest that it has been in years (thank you Colin) with the first duo in a long time, Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey. Speaking of Jimmy...he is my lover. That man is SO HOT! Plus he is insanely talented. Men who are funny and cute are so sexy. Okay, enough of my rambling. My fave sketches now are: Bahston Teens, Wake Up Wakefield, Weekend Update, Message from the President, and the Bloater Brothers (even though they can't do it anymore). SEE THIS SHOW IT ROCKS!
Okay. This is my new favorite soap opera. "Spyder Games" basically deals with the corrupt and out of whack Carslile family, and their father Boris, who created the video game corporation known as Spyder Games. Dimitri Carslile is back in Fort Kent after a stint in Hollywood, and the only daughter Natalia is busy as a powerless vp at the company. The youngest of the Carslile brood, Sasha (and, by the way, is a dead on lookalike w/ Ryan Philippe), is busy getting his rear end in all sorts of trouble and gettin his freak on w/ someone that is seven years older than him-the beautiful 23-year old Taylor. Little does he know that his best girl friend Cherish Pardee is head over heels in love w/ him. Meanwhile, the second oldest Carslile, Ivan, is getting ready to marry his sweetheart Kate. May I add that Ivan and Natalia both hate their father, while Dimitri is the pet and Sasha is spoiled w/ Boris' lax attitude. What happens next?? Well, you're just gonna hafta find out. Okay, time for the review! This is a great show. Funny subplots, very delicately worked mysteries, and kickass scandals that'll make you gasp. See the wedding episode and see what I mean. It's crazy! I think my favorite female character is the owner of Come-On's Boutique (Daphne), where Taylor and Cherish both work. She's hilarious and wacky and totally into soap operas. She misses an intricate part of the plot because she was tuned in to BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, for god's sake! I don't like Taylor. She's a total B**** for telling Cherish to go for Sasha while secretly boinking him in the janitor closet!...Okay okay, you got me...my favorite male character has GOT to be the most BEAUTIFUL man I've EVER SEEN, Sasha Carslile. He is SO GORGEOUS! And I totally think that Robert Hutchinson (the guy who plays him) will go really far. All in all, watch "Spyder Games"!
