...please let this show be the death knell for the god-awful slowed-down dragged-out treacly funeral dirge covers of pop songs. That trope was played out 7 seconds after they started permeating trailers for TV shows and movies a few years ago.
When it happened in the first episode with Marsden singing Phil Collins' "Another Day in Paradise", it kinda worked when the awful version turned up at the end. But every episode you find yourself waiting for the original to appear like an Alfred Hitchcock cameo so you can brace yourself for whatever cringe is going to ruin the tension they were going for in the final scene.
You know how you can switch in English dubbing on some foreign shows? It would be nice if you could switch in a better soundtrack on shows like these. Just sayin'...

I can't fathom why an actor of his caliber is slogging his way through this mediocre show. Actually, the whole cast is pretty good, but I don't understand why this show even exists or why it's thinly connected to Sherlock Holmes. A doctor trying to figure out a medical disorder each week could have been called Thompson or Jackson or Smith or whatever.
I suppose this is creator Craig Sweeney's attempt at capturing the Sherlock lightning in a bottle again after being a writer on Elementary. But Sherlock's dead in this version, so the connection is even more pointless, although it would be pretty funny if Benedict Cumberbatch made a cameo in a flashback.
I suppose I'm being too harsh. Other shows have had uninspiring starts but went on to be far more interesting. I'm just not sure if I'll even bother with how much other great content is out there.

It explains exactly why this show has fallen off a cliff over the past decade. Most of the creative writers left and were replaced by a bunch of somber perpetually online ChatGPT bots. These people are barely funny to each other, let alone the rest of us. And just to rub it in, there's interviews with Seth Meyers and Larry David and Sarah Silverman and Tina Fey and Robert Smigel and Al Franken...you know, actually funny people. The new writer with the perpetual vocal fry is completely incapable of humor.
It's also a fantastic look behind the scenes of what goes into putting together a 90 minute live sketch show in less than a week. It's just a shame it happened with this depressing crew.
