As an admirer of the director's tandem, I must admit that Orbis Non Sufficit for them! If this story was to be filmed in some of the richest European [warning: not World] productions, it would have been a hit in hand. This way, only selected circles can see and enjoy the saga of the real world future, the excellent 'Ubermakedonische' in the background, as well as one of the hottest love scenes filmed ever [bravo Mirko&Slavko + Sofi]. Highly recommendable 'indie' for the people who expect everything from virtually nothing.
The fact that this film is based on a true story [in fact based on a documentary shot by the same director], gives a unique rafinement to this feature destinguishing it from the use-and-waste 'true' stories seen everyday in mass production of the rich overseas productions. Wonderful camera work, reinforced with the magic pan-pipes of Zamfir [really feeling the Balkan mentality and irregular rythms, indeed!]are recommendation for itself. However, the dialog is not the strongest part of the movie [as in the most Macedonian features], but one can still enjoy the personal human drama, knowing that at the end, at least one little thing was restored - the freedom.
It is not only watching the motions on the screen, but also feeling them, re-living them every day. In this perspective, many of the things mentioned there seemed silly and pretentious at the first sight, but now everything is in its own place: the movie on the screen [and in the memories of the faithful], and the real life out there in sunny Macedonia... Outer Circle [which is NOT round, of course!] people, can only enjoy the wonderfully told story, excellent photography [invitation: come to Macedonia] and the inspiring music of Anastasia, but the real advantage of the Inner Circle [expanding, but not round either!] people lies in the fact that this is not only a movie...
