I found this movie at my public library, a Criterion Collection edition with superb sound and a very sharp B&W picture in 4:3 image ratio.

The story starts in 1919 at the end of WW1, soldiers fighting overseas when the truce is announced. Two of those soldiers were James Cagney as Eddie Bartlett and Humphrey Bogart as George Hally. Two close friends in the Army, destined to eventually become adversaries in the New York City crime business.

As an aside, both Cagney, at 5'5", and Bogart, at 5'8", were small guys. So 5'2" Priscilla Lane played the part of entertainer Jean Sherman that Eddie was pursuing. And Gladys George at 5'3" played Panama Smith. They helped make Cagney and Bogart seem to be of normal size.

Back in New York the story is molded by the difficulty of finding jobs and the passage of Prohibition. So finding work, and money, in the illegal production and sale of alcohol was a natural path for them. The story extends to the early 1930s after the market crash of 1929, creating new difficulties.

This is one of the better movies depicting that era and both Cagney and Bogart are in top form.

Suzanne Pereira is Sara, living in Chicago and working as an OR nurse. As the movie opens her sister is getting married, it turns out to her former boyfriend. To get a fresh start she decides to take a job as an OR nurse in Las Vegas.

On the way, with her dog and pulling a mobile home, her truck breaks down in Utah. There she meets Chris Reid as single dad Aidan Anderson who stops and offers help. She ends up parking her mobile home on his 1000-acre ranch until her truck is repaired in a week or so.

But Aiden has a brother on the ranch, Brando White as Porter Anderson, who is immediately taken with Sara and part of the story is a mild competition of sorts between the two brothers. Plus Aiden has a really smart and cute daughter of about 10 or 11 that bonds quickly with Sara.

It is a cute movie with a mild faith theme thrown in. The actors are beautiful, the scenery is beautiful, my wife and I enjoyed the movie. At home, streaming on Prime.

This movie has a distinct "backwoods" look to it, and was shot in and near the Shreveport, Louisiana area.

Sarah Butler is Jennifer, she is an author looking for a peaceful place, away from the city, to write. She rents a country place near a small pond.

The story is neatly divided into two halves. In the first half she is noticed by, then hounded by, the local no-goods, including one police officer. She is sexually assaulted in the woods, it seems they are prepared to kill her to avoid incrimination. Then stumbling nude through the woods, followed by the men, she pulls a fast one to escape.

The second half of the movie is Jennifer systematically hunting down each of the four or five men and getting her revenge, most in very novel and painful ways.

This is fiction, what we see didn't really happen to anyone. Taken as such it is a very entertaining revenge movie. Sarah Butler is very good as Jennifer.
