After Ben-Hur, I feel this is the best period movie to have ever emerged from Hollywood

10/10. One of the greatest of all time. I don't know where and how to begin even describing. The director is a master storyteller and director when it comes to historical movies and historical facts (see "Freedom" also). Incredible cast and music, cinematography and production, score and visuals, just everything about this movie screams "perfection of 21st century" and best way to welcome movie industry into 21st century. Score made me emotional and I hope that the sequel will be as good as the original. Absolutely phenomenal and epic Bible story on the greatest story of heroism for God.

All glory and praise to the Lord Jesus Christ. My family also loved the powerful verse in the end from the Book of Psalms.

10/10.

Redemption and Faith - GREAT MOVIE

All of the negative reviews are coming from one person or a group of possible atheists.

To say that this movie DAVID AND GOLIATH gives the audience hope would be unfair because this movie makes the audience want to live, love, experience God for all of its pleasures and its faults. It makes one appreciate the King David's faith in God, to admire that which we pass a hundred times a day, but never truly see: FAITH.

The film I hear was shot in North Africa and London. The negative reviewers have never written, directed, or acted in any produced feature film. Just FYI.

To describe this movie as "great" would be an understatement because it is so much more than that. While it is brutal and realistic, it portrays humanity at our best and our worst, providing the audience with a mirror in which to reflect what lies within. We need God. By the time the credits roll, we're left speechless...and at the same time, wanting to share this masterpiece with those we love and cherish.

I LOVE 'How Great Thou Art' as the final song.

Everyone should see this movie at least once in a lifetime to make us appreciate everything we have. Who would have thought someone could capture FAITH this way? I guess a picture really is worth a thousand words......

The film is free to view on Youtube. The filmmakers make nothing as Google has shut them out from earning any income. This is the sad world we live in.

10+ rating - Today I saw a movie become more powerful . . .

10+ rating.

Ignore the haters. They will stand before God someday.

This is just such an amazing Bible film, it captures every emotion possible in only the way an expert director can achieve, we can go on for whole scenes without the need for speaking, everything is told through the genuine body language and expressions. And when there is conversing we get such emotion and wonderfully powerful Biblical quotes What we do in life, echoes in eternity" Wow.

The ending scene is spellbinding, showing the true gore of battle, the fight scenes are marvellously realistic, discarding the popular "pretty" sword fighting for brutal aggressive force. The audience in the arena express every emotion, surprise, anger, and enjoyment. The cast is brilliantly chosen from England. They shot the film in North Africa.

God-honoring movie in every sense. You can watch it for free on Youtube.

A one of a kind classic - A

Rating: A.

The previous guy was right - the film has like 8.5 million views on Youtube and tens of thousands of great comments.

These negative reviews are coming from the same people.

Flawlessly shot on location in Morocco and North Africa, the whole production binds together to bring the extraordinary Bible story into the realm of a believable and compelling study of human injustice and GOD.

Its greatest honor is giving glory to the Lord in every scene.

This is one of the best movie versions of a Bible story I've ever seen, and I think I've seen them all. If you're prone to tears at a film, take extra tissues, you'll need them. The theater I was in was a mass of sniffles through the end credits.

You can watch this for free on Youtube again. This is how generous the filmmakers are. Give them due respect.

I didn't think films could be this good....

David and Goliath takes you on an emotional journey that you will remember for a long time, thanks to the superb crafting of the film and sincere performances by the cast. The score is deep and haunting, this film is for the ages and will permenantly have a place in my heart. To me it is one of the best Christian film of the 2000's and quite possibly one of the best of all time.

The fact that this film has over 8 million views and thousands of great comments on Youtube is a testament to just how many people love this film, many viewers seem to have an emotional bond with the film, and I don't blame them. I only wish that I could view the film for the first time again, and experience that redeeming feeling of David and his brothers experienced at the end.

Ignore the negative comments surrounding the film and judge it on your own experience, the last half hour are especially beautiful. Watch this if you already haven't, and enjoy the masterpiece. 10/10.

10/10 - GOOD for the spirit - DAVID represents Christ

10/10.

The story unfolds in unhurried fashion, with us being unsure of David's power for much of the movie, but with a gradually building sense of injustice at the way those in power in the system (GOLIATH) can treat him (and others) unfairly. The secret doesn't come at the end, but at about the three quarters mark, and brings with it a huge emotional kick. And then the story is allowed to make its own way into a gentle and perfect end.

This is, without any doubt, one of the most spiritually uplifting films I have ever seen.

God is upheld. The Bible is upheld. David is a Christ-type figure in that he was willing to sacrifice himself for others. Beautifully-told story.

I saw this film on Youtube where it has an unbelievable 8.7 million views.

This has over 8 million views on Youtube and thousands of positive comments.

The scenery used for "David and Goliath" is brilliant - and the opening battle scene is definitely one of my top favorite scenes. The modern camera technique contrasts sharply to the brutality of the gladiators actions and blood shed during the movie; and I love the light contrasts thanks to the lenses which most definitely have been used to create a surreal feel to the entire movie.

"David and Goliath" does not deserve the rating and the negative reviews it has received, and for those of you who still haven't gone and watched it - I can assure you that it will be well worth your time.

Deserves a higher score of 8 or 9.

It is a simple film, yet it has an everlasting message. The filmmakers didn't need to put any kind of outlandish special effects to get us to love this film, the narration and the acting does that for them. Why this movie didn't get Oscar nominations is beyond me, but don't let that sway you to not see this film.

They hate this film because of the strong message of faith and the Bible's accuracy - they want all the movies to desecrate Scripture like 'Noah' or 'Exodus' - this does not.

All my friends LOVE this film.

Set aside time tonight and watch this movie. You will finally understand what everyone is talking about and you will understand why this is my all time favorite movie.

Such a daunting task requires an extremely capable artist with an undeniable managerial capacity and an acutely developed awareness of each element of art in their films, the most prominent; music, visuals, script, and acting.

The best movie in history and the best ending in any entertainment business.

Excellent movie

Excellent, moving film. I saw the filmmaker's last movie, 'Slamma Jamma' and had to see this. I didn't understand the low scores until I realized they people leaving the low scores were either atheists or 'Angels of Light' (Satan posing as a Christian). The script is emotional, touching, and emphasizes the connections between the characters involved. I loved the chemistry between David and his brothers, it is a wonderful love story to watch. Also, the connection that David and Saul share is something very special. COURAGE is at the center of this entire film, and it will touch you in a deep way, or at least that's the experience I had with it. I suggest this very well made film to those who like epics. It is not the best film ever, but it is certainly a very good one. 8/10 for David and Goliath.

Unbelievably bad

I wrote one review already, but it seems you deleted it. I don't know why. It was perfectly appropriate but negative.

I agree with all the other one-star reviews. The movie was childish and amateurish. It looked like the actors had been recruited from a Texas- Mexico border junior high school. It's crazy to have the lead characters played by Scotch-Irish-British actors and to have all the others played by Mexicans.

I wanted to walk out, but I forced myself to stay. This film was a great disappointment to me because I really wanted it to be good.

The worst thing is that it seems a lot of people have been paid to write wonderful things about this movie. Surely American movie-goers are sophisticated enough to see what a horrendous flop this is.

How many other negative reviews have you deleted.

Ignore the Haters - this is a Very Good Bible-based Film

Just ignore them. 'David and Goliath' was a phenomenal film and I loved how they stuck true to the Biblical story giving all honor and praise to the Lord.

They hate the film because it had a national theater release and was a hit on Epoch TV, Redbox, Hulu, Netflix, etc. Their fangs can't bite deep enough because the film didn't mock God like 'Noah' and 'Exodus'. Their eye-bulging hatred for anything worthy of God is so evident despite claiming they are Christians (remember the demons come as 'Angels of Light' - 2 Corinthians 11:14).

I loved how this film again was filmed in Tunisia and the UK studios. It was a big-budget look that matched any studio in terms of quality.

Again, ignore the haters and enjoy a film that honors GOD.

A movie revolution upon all others

We have all see movies, comedies, action and dramas. We all liked ones, hated others, got into some other even and felt like part of it. In DAVID AND GOLIATH; you start slowly, after a while you get attached, by the time you reach the middle of the movie you simply totally forget about anything outside the screen and feel a mixed stream of emotions going through you head before anything else.

God is totally given honor in the film and the Bible and Psalms is given total honor.

Then comes a last 20 minutes of heart storming that is surely enough to raise the adrenaline to extreme levels even in diabetics! I felt warm, strong, happy and all other emotions one can think of, I felt I was the one who won, who got out of prison, i was simply fully satisfied. You see the Lord in every aspect in young King David

This movie must be used as an Anti-depression by therapists! This movie proves that Oscars are either money bought gifts! - they would never give a Christian film an Oscar. Or that who ever in charge of them are so smart that they couldn't give any Oscar to David and Goliath knowing that the movie is on different - much higher- rating scale than the Oscars.. it's simply about Jesus.

We shouldn't even be talking about this

It is complete irresponsibility that we are even discussing this movie. I have never been more confused by a rating for a movie than by this one. 15-20 people walked out of the showing within 20 minutes. I sat through the entirety and I consider it a painful experience.

I am Christian. I have liked Christian based movies in the past but only if they were done well.

This movie must have been filmed using a camcorder bought from a yard sale and recorded over the used tapes that came with it. I've seen better acting and script from small church plays. They stood out there in the wind and amplified the yelling to cover the wind noise.

Honestly I do not understand how this movie has the ratings it has. I just watched the trailer before writing this review. They definitely put more into developing the trailer. They were amazingly able to hide all the short comings.

I have a bit of confusion concerning the plot and the Biblical version. A Israeli soldier complains that Goliath has been presenting himself for twenty days and then David shows up at the battle site. I am not sure how many days and nights they claim David was actually there but the next 60-70 minutes of the movie was a continuous repeat of the same argument/conflict. They were stretching to fill the time slot.

I wrote the cinema and demanded restitution. If you have seen this movie already, give it a shot. If you haven't, be warned.

I don't want to discourage the showing of good movies for the small select audience whether they be Christian or something other. But the cinema needs to be responsible about it. This movie is amateur and below the standards of the price of a ticket!

If you're a 'luke-warm' Believer or hate hearing God's name mentioned all the time, PASS AND MOVE ON

..........If you have a hard time hearing a lot about GOD and such, pass on this at the local Googleplex and wander into another film. I hope it makes you happy. But, I would gently suggest you try this movie out. Be you a man (or woman) of Faith or not. You just might be surprised. And, you just might wish to spend a little more time with the Savior of the world. I often do not see movies like this, since I am a somewhat typical man who prefers big blockbuster SF or other action oriented films. However, I went to see this movie at my local multiplex yesterday on a date with my wife and found myself really enjoying the movie. The people attending were a mix of adults and teenagers, with about an equal mix of men and women. I met a couple of people I knew there and they seemed to have enjoyed the film.

Could have been shot better by high schoolers.

Without any possible doubt the single worst biblical movie I have ever had the misfortune to watch. The acting for want of a better term was diabolical, the cinematography again for the want of a better term was on a par with that of parents shooting their kids school play on a VHS camcorder (although the acting would doubtless be better), the sound recording at its best points was muffled and at its worst sounded like it had been done with a microphone at the bottom of a metal bucket on a 1970's cassette recorder.

I accept I will never get back the half hour of my life I managed to force myself to sit through this travesty in the hope that it might get better but I sincerely wish there were a way I could at least UN-watch it.

The ONLY ways I can imagine anyone could possibly give this rubbish a good review are either:- 1. they were in it themselves. 2. They know someone who was in it and want to promote it on their behalf. (if you are one of these people do your friend a favour, let this movie disappear into the oblivion it deserves, the same goes for those who were in it) 3. They are so deeply indoctrinated into their faith that they are unable to accept that anything to do with it could possibly be bad. 4. They have been paid. or 5. They have never before seen any kind of movie and were just blown away by moving pictures that can talk (even if you can't actually hear what they are saying a lot of the time).

I actually felt embarrassed for everyone involved in this movie, I felt embarrassed for the actors (I use that word very liberally here), the director, the producers, all of the crew, the animals, the guys who made the cameras lights and sound gear and the guys who sold them to whoever shot it; it was so bad those responsible should get down on their knees and apologise to the very locations and equipment for involving them in the making of something so thoroughly awful.

I only hope that none of those involved relied on the skills demonstrated in this movie to keep them from homelessness and starvation and that having got it out of their system were able to go back into society, perhaps with the help of some counselling they will one day be able to forget.

Excruciating

All but three couples left the theater. Was it supposed to be comical? The dialogue between actors was comical. Some of the actors seemed on the verge of rolling on the ground laughter at any moment. Very poorly done and very overly hyped online. The ones promoting on social media that I've discussed with have not even seen the movie. This movie only made me sad because I am concerned Hollywood will further mock Christians after this.Visually stimulating? No. Big budget 50 million dollar movie? Unbelievable. David seemed to be the only professional actor. Furthermore, the creators of the movie seem to delete honest comments that may be perceived critical. Sure, if all you see is positive comments that's deceiving people. In my opinion, the movie was a low-budget mockery of the true story from the King James Version of the bible.

Horrible

This is an absolutely terrible film. As a Christian, I give a lot of allowances to faith-based films, but no amount of allowances can redeem a film that is simply not excellent in any way.

The acting is poor, the script is entirely unprofessional, and the filming technique is poorer than a student film-level effort.

That is not even mentioning the horrendous cultural inaccuracies of white Americans playing Israeli and Philistine characters and the offensive anachronism of Saul's daughter walking around freely in a camp of soldiers. This film was made with no respect or regard for the historical context of the story or the cultural heritage of the characters.

There is no reason to see this or take anyone to see it. Scripture itself is very powerful, and the story of David and Goliath is incredible. Read it for yourself and be blessed. Don't waste money on a film that should never have been made.

Masterpiece

David and Goliath (2015)

**** (out of 4)

Most films that jump time feel cheap and rushed but that's not the case here because the wonderful screenplay from Tim Chey lets us get to know the two main character but also the supporting characters are very well written and Biblically-honoring. What really brings this magic to life are the performances from Miles Sloman, which are downright brilliant and I'd argue that you can see some of the greatest ensemble acting right in this film. Watch Chey's other film 'The Firing Squad' (2024)

I won't spoil the ending for anyone but the final twenty-minutes are at times breathtaking in their beauty, courage and it's message of faith in God rings louder than most movies.

Best Biblical film I've seen

Best Biblical film I've seen.... I don't understand why some people are so against this movie. Many people right away point to the fact that it was too long. There are a number of wonderful movies that are "too long", including Saving Private Ryan, Gone With The Wind, Schindler's List, Magnolia (shall I go on?). I'm a big fan of the filmmaker's other films. Maybe it's just me. I don't know. I loved that the film was shot in Africa and the behind the scenes of how they made the film is incredible. 10 out of 10 stars for me.

The absolute worst movie EVER!!

Everything about the movie was terrible. The camera angles, the sky, and all the characters that were cast for the movie didn't make since to me or anyone else in the theater. I am totally disappointed with this movie!! It looked as if they digitally put people in certain scenes. I was excited when I heard about this movie, but now I can't believe I wasted my time and money. They could have tried to make it somewhat believable. The acting was atrocious. Some of the actors seemed to have forgotten their lines. Goliath's voice was nerve racking. The things he was calling the Jews was childish. WORST MOVIE EVER. PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

A Slow, Painfully Beautiful Film but Biblically correct

LET US NEVER FORGET, this film doesn't smear King David or the Bible like the recent 'Noah' and 'Exodous'

They shot this film in North Africa and London so it had epic shooting. I saw the director's recent film 'The Islands'

David and Goliath seems to be more of a book than a film, with a slow, magical flow, that captures your imagination, or bores you, if you are one of the less patient crowd. The story isn't the main draw of the film (there are countless sad love stories in Hollywood each year, but not every one that honors God Almighty). What is so captivating of the film is its pacing, and it is easy to understand why it appeals more to older people and to those who watch the film more than once. Jared Morgan always is a solid presence in films, taking the movies from good film to classic. The movie touches on the points of what young King David went through that we don't always see, from Goliath to his brothers. It's not a movie that people love/hate, but one that people find incredibly interesting or boring. It's something I would recommend for everyone, but that doesn't mean i think they'll like it. 10 of 10 stars/ Thumbs up

RATING: 10/10 - This touching and heart warming film is the most perfect celebration of the human spirit I have seen.

All of my Christian friends and family LOVE THIS MOVIE. The only ones who attack it seem to be the same group of haters. Sad.

For those of you who think this movie is a Bible movie you are sadly mistaken. This movie merely takes place in Israel but this story is about so much more...friendship, hope, survival and dreams and Jehovah God!

All I can say is that if you have not seen this film just take the time to watch it and just take in the amazing story and the incredible performances turned in by the cast! I promise you that you won't be sorry!!!
