A romantic comedy full of heartrending drama. A story hinting at predestined love. A young woman wins a trip and invites a young man from work she has a crush on. Meanwhile a man is planning a grand proposal for his work obsessed longtime girlfriend.
If my review was only on the acting this would have a much higher score, unfortunately there were several scenes where even I had a difficult time suspending my belief. I also felt that if they had taken the time on a couple of the subplot lines it would have felt less frustrated with the plot holes.
Over all I enjoyed the major story arch, two people who under normal circumstance would never have met are brought together by fate.
Initially, I was put off by Lee Gun's manic personality as played by Jang Hyuk. However, as the story developed and reasons for some of his behavior were revealed, I was amazed at how right his acting choices were. Steadily as the serial became more drama and less romcom, I fell in love with his character.
Kim Mi-young played by Jang Na-ra, started out as a very nice door mat. While her character did not go through major changes in my opinion, her ability to show and evoke various emotions as the character goes through difficulty after difficulty was good.
Unfortunately, the writers did not give all the characters as much room to evolve beyond the caricature they started as. Choi Jin-Hyuk as Daniel, was beautiful to watch, but they did not allow the character to develop beyond the unrequited love guy. He was too nice and patient with everyone and everything.
Yet while I some times became frustrated with some of the choices the characters made, over all I enjoyed the story telling.
I would also like to mention I loved Song Wok-suk as Kim Mi-young's mother and her story line. I loved how she was able to be that mother that scolded her daughter one minute and then grabbed and protected her from anyone else that would dare insult her daughter.
If you are able to suspend your belief on a couple of really impossible scenes, I recommend watching this heartwarming and at times tear flowing love story.

Fated to love you was the first kdrama i watched and only because i saw somewhere the scene in the rain where Gun tells Sa-ra he married another woman. Jang Hyuk is phenomenal, but watching his other performances, i am not really surprised. This guy can act! Yes, as Gun he is a little over the top, and maybe there are times when you will cringe, but weirdly enough, you will get used to it! Worth mentioning is all the hairstyles he goes through the episodes! Nevertheless, he still looks million dollars ;) Jang Nara is beautiful. So innocent and pure. They both did an amazing job.
Now to the plot. I must say it left me with mixed feelings. Especially because of Sa-ra. I felt terribly sorry for her. She was a victim to a big misunderstanding where she was suddenly left with a broken heart. In the 'original' taiwanese' version of fated to love you (with ethan juan), the feelings between Ji Cun Xi and Anna were much stronger, his emotional struggle between his feelings for Anna and moral obligations toward Xin Ji was much more apparent. In the korean version, Sa-ra's feelings were neglected and i felt sad for her. Of course, they gave her long lost brother at the end, but that's a different kind of love and for me it did not compensate the heartache.
Overall i enjoyed the show very much, i laughed, i cried, i cringed, i hoped.. it was a rollercoaster of feelings and emotions and all actors did an amazing job to make me feel that way!

I started watching this expecting cheese. It starts off with extreme blue cheese in the first scene, then turns into something warm, gooey and wonderful. The main male lead is OTT and maniacal, and at a few points I wish her mother was there with her wooden bat to have a good go at him again (yay mum!) but the reasons for his behaviour became apparent due to his job/lifestyle, family and circumstances.
All that being said, the female lead had the most wonderful, crazy, overly protective and loving family that as scary as it sounds I think everyone would wish they had. They completely stole the show.
The lost girlfriend though.... she made a poor decision and it cost everyone everything. It's easy to feel sorry for her, but as I always say..... decisions determine destiny.
Watch this show.

This is my first review on IMDB. I have only started watching K-drama just 1-2 months ago and I could really understand now why the world just go crazy over K-drama series. Anyways, I really love this K-drama series. It is a different kind of love story where 2 unexpected people from 2 different worlds and with totally opposite types and temperament from each other, yet they were fated to end up together, no matter what life, people and obstacles were put in from of them. It is full of bitter sweet moments, many funny and hilarious events, and yet some painful and heart wrenching times too. After hours and hours of roller-coaster feelings and boxes of tissues wiping off tears later, I really can say this is one of the best K-drama or any life/love-story dramas I have ever seen in my lifetime. Plus the songs are so good too.
This Korean version is much better than the Taiwanese version of "Fated to Love You". The Korean version is more realistic (the main Korean guy is more older and more believable as the head of a big corporation than the Taiwanese guy - who looked too young and cute); there are so funny, passionate and painful moments too. All their cast acting are very believable, and they put their full effort in their roles.
This K-drama is highly recommended.

This by far is one of the most heartwarming versions of Fated to Love You that I've watched...and I watched all three of them. I found myself watching this series several times...It's just that good! This was the best performed, most gut wrenching and most humorous of the three. I am a fan of Jang Hyuk - and watch everything he does. I can honestly say I really loved him and Nara in this series. They had a strong supporting cast, and the storyline is believable. You will laugh and you will cry, and you will also find yourself humming along with the unforgettable music (OST) in this Drama. I highly recommend this series.

Do yourself a favor - stop what you're doing and watch. this. show. Binged all 20 episodes in one week's time and laughed so much and shed so many tears. Jang Hyuk completely blew my mind and pretty sure I just became a lifelong fan. His range is incredible. Amazing chemistry between the leads, beautiful story, gorgeous OST, perfect ending. Just go watch it! :)

The leading actor has a weirdo laugh! A little scary! But there is a reason for that weird laugh! Throughput the drama, there is a reason to his hairstyle, to give different expression! He portrays it very well!
The leading actress is a true doormat! Though not that pretty but sweet, warm, honest & cute at times! But when she has make-up on, nice attire & without the ugly glasses, she turns out pretty. Both of them have a wonderful chemistry! They are comfortable with each other & not stiff! So beautiful together!
The supporting actor is so handsome! So thoughtful & kind!
Fantastic cast! Cool grandmother, tough mom, funny assistant & wonderfu lhalf brother!
Another drama full of obstacles, disappointment, betrayal & love!
One can never forget your first love.
Worth watching! Really swoonworthy! It may not seems like it in the beginning but it will. Be prepared to have your tissues nearby & laugh!
I recommend! Will binge watch again!

It started super hilarious and funny and entertaining. I couldn't stop laughing and i enjoyed very much watching their complicated relationship.
They were so fun to watch. The female lead was super cute in the beginning and i love how the male lead followed her to the workplace and he won my heart with his heroic moves.
The thing is, the drama got boring after some point amd to be honest i bored and didn't watch the last 2 episodes.
Gotta say male leads irritating laugh got me laughed too in some scenes.
You can enjoy watching if you're looking for a romantic comedy. Just don't expect that the show would continue like it started cause it's not.

What a beautiful drama, with the perfect mix of emotion and humour and a heavy dose of some great acting. Fated to love you is a drama that focuses on the feelings and character development, the thoughts and emotions - and that's what I thought was refreshing. The storyline was indeed over the top, with moments of deliberate cheese, excessive visual effects, and completely unrealistic scenarios, yet the story had enough heart to make it all seem completely plausible. Highly recommended

Fated To Love You took me on a roller coaster of emotions. It was simultaneously funny, touching, and sad. In particular, Jang Hyuk, the ML really delved deep into the psyche of a manic overbearing yet loving CEO. Jang Nara, the FL, tried her best with the pathetic heroine who despite being such a limp noodle managed to capture the attention of two very handsome, very rich men. Lolololol... who writes these things and when will they learn that not every series needs a love triangle? Sigh.
(Synopsis: Mi Young is a Post-it Girl secretary who takes orders from everyone in no short of kindness. On Mi Young's big break from her law firm, she bumps into Gun, who hopes to propose to his long-term girlfriend, Se Ra. However, he bumps into Mi Young a tad bit too hard, and they end up with a complete turnaround of plans after Mi Young mothers Gun's child. They go through rough patches in their relationship, and their lives change even after they get married.)

If your first impression of the male lead is that he's too extreme and dramatic, please please stick with it. What I found really interesting was that his environment clearly responds to all the strange behavior he exhibits, but gradually come to accept it once they get to know his character, often in unison with the watcher. It shows the male lead is athletically skilled as his clumsy dives and tumbles are masterfully controlled. The acting is downright phenomenal. Downside: the intimate scenes weren't amazing. All in all I definitely recommend this one.

You are my destiny or fated to love you was actually and unexpectedly a good drama.
The chemistry of the couple was unbelievable. Yes, the love triangle was not as good as it should have, which would have increased the intensity of the love story, but well, it is what it is. Plus, the mystery of the sister was interesting.
The acting, moreover, was nice and the leads were adorable. The performances were great as well.
However, even though the story was daring with that plot and theme, the drama had many cliches and it got slow towards the ending. But, the ending was more than satisfying, so seven out of ten.

Cute, beutiful, warm, funnny and at times heart wrenching story. Loving the ML with all his excentricity and the supporting actors are fab. It's the kind of story that stays with you. Watch it and enyoy!

Not since the epically awful pageboy hair style of Javier Bardem in No Country For Old Men has an actor's freakish hair style distracted me to this degree.
But I loved JH in The Killer. He has such a commanding presence on screen...and someone gives him a decent style more than halfway through, thank heavens.
So, truly Bad Hair notwithstanding this is an entertaining story that zags from the usual stuff with an unromantic premise for romcom. A lost weekend, a hazy night of mistaken passion lands a rich executive in Daddyland with a self-effacing young woman. He resents a compelled marriage to babymomma and she can't help apologizing for everything all the time because she has an unusual amount of empathy toward others. How they navigate their disappointments, hopes and growing feelings for each other is fun to watch. There's a hunky neighbor she confides in to create a love triangle and there are very funny moments of male competition throughout between these two men.
As with most Kdramas, this takes us to visit all the emotions as things go awry in heart wrenching ways. There's personal growth, second chances, gentle rejections, the works. There's also my least favorite kdrama trope, the clingy, mopey, lying ex-girlfriend who afflicts the FL at every opportunity. Hated her, as I was supposed to, but she gets a happy ending of her own after a fashion. Pretty soapy overall but Jang Hyuk commands attention, bad hair and braying laugh aside.
Production is almost as awful as his hair with 70's style made for TV lighting. Sound recording had so much ambient noise, locusts, traffic, rain, their voices were drowned out on outdoor scenes and indoors the levels vary wildly. Why no ADR? It's not like I can understand what's said in Korean but I still found it distracting.
On the other hand, Jang Hyuk.
N'uf said.

This is the first Korean series I've seen and I really had no idea that I was going to love it. The performances, the chemistry between the actors, the music! Oh God! The soundtrack! Without meaning to, you will find yourself humming or whistling the beautiful soundtrack. In 20 episodes you're going to laugh, you're going to cry (I advise having a box of disposable tissues handy and pausing the series to cry at ease!). You will not regret it, it is one of those works that you finish seeing and you feel that you want more. Bonus points for Jang Hyuk's acting and Jang Nara's glacier-melting smile. The good thing about this series is that at the end it leaves you with a big smile and wanting more. If you don't know what to see, this is a great option. I would have liked to review in Spanish because I fell short in how extraordinary it seemed to me.

I'm about halfway through it and, although its not a complete bust, I think this would have played much better as a more serious drama. The talent in there. I've seen the ML in some truly kick-a$$ roles (Beautiful Mind, Money Flower, Tell Me What You Saw, to name a few). Likewise, the FL has impressive eyes and very good emotional range. Her hurt/anguish/ frailty here are just heart-breaking. I've also seen her in Hello Monster (a serial killer mystery) and she was pretty good in that one as well. So, I don't get why the director/ producer (or whoever makes these decisions) would set a cartoonish tone here. Geez, at least do it as a dramedy or something. But to reduce what could have been a hauntingly beautiful romantic drama into a low-rent Slapstick comedy is a criminal waste of talent. Still, I'll probably finish it just because I like the main couple so much.

This is a powerful story of forgiveness, humility, kindness and grace triumphing in the face of huge adversity and bringing forth an incredible and unbreakable love between the main characters. However, to get there, there's a lot of pain and sadness so be prepared for several episodes of heartbreaking, tears pouring down your face angst, but the journey is worth it and the ending is wonderful. I gave it nine stars instead of 10 simply for the length of time the viewer is kept in emotion agony along with the characters during this series.
