The idea of the story had enough potential to make a interesting movie. But, the script, screenplay, acting are all below par, making for a stale fare. Nothing is redeeming about this movie. You can probably watch it with the comfort of the remote. Even a bad plot can be redeemed to some extent with good acting, but here both EmraanHashmi and Amrtya are below par. Amrtya is totally wooden and misfit in a already hopelessly written role. Hashmi appears and disappears as the invisible guy, but his presence or lack of it doesn't make any difference. Of course, he does get couple of trademark smooching scenes. One can't help recollect the excellent MR.India movie, a movie based on an invisible lead, to contrast how poor this one fares, even with technology of 30 years forward!
We went to see the movie as we had liked the effects in the teaser, because Emraan Hashmi movies are usually good and because it was in 3d. Thought the whole thing would be fun to watch.
Sadly the effects were a copy of hollow man and thus did not appeal. There was no creativity. The guy would switch his invisibility on and off as if there was a defect in his invisibility and no control. The effect of carrying his girl while being invisible was the only new good effect but was already a part of the teaser.
The story was run of the mill "badla" one and not expected from Vikram Bhatt. Effects do not make a movie but there should be a good story.
The songs were irritating and the singer sounds like he has woken up from his sleep and started to sing. The lady's voice was auto tuned. So nothing much was achieved in the music department. The song "you can call me X" was like giving an option to the audience.
The worse thing was that we saw this movie in "Starcity Matunga". We were made to pay 15 bucks for a pair of 3d glasses that we can keep. Unfortunately the glasses were so cheap that there was no 3d effect in some. only half my family was able to see 3d. Even after exchanging the glasses 3 or 4 times we could not see 3d. The staff in the theater were kind enough to help us exchange the glasses but the quality of the glasses had not been tested.
Emraan Hashmi is advised to use his good discretionary powers to only act in good movies and not trust the people who sell him special effects. Also he could select a good boy image, There was nothing much in performances of the other actors. The reason why the invisibility happen was stupid and not convincing. Maybe the twist with which the villain is exposed was the only bit of intelligence in the movie.

Looks like they filmed the whole thing in a closet. Denouncing science and blaming god seems odd. Special effects are 15 years behind the times. The lighting makes it look like a soap opera. As does the acting and storyline. The sets are tiny and cheap. Did I mention how the lighting makes it look like a soap opera? Because the movie doesn't let you forget. The songs and dance don't go with the story at all and not in a fun way but in a way that feels lazy. I guess that's how the whole movie feels, lazy. The only part that was very impressive was a shot or 2 during the motorcycle race where I wondered how they filmed it because it looked as though someone was really riding a bike against traffic. Then the person disappeared but the bike still looked real and not digital. Other than that this movie is very easily forgotten completely.
Nothing great can be expected from the Bhatts these days. Still I gave Mr.X a try considering Emraan Hashmi's acting and it being promoted as a science fiction. Forget science-fiction this movie defies your logic. The screenplay feels like it has been written for people with single digit IQ. Raghu (Emraan Hashmi) works in anti- terrorism department with his girlfriend Seeya (Amyra Dastur). He is framed for murder of CM and then presumed to be killed by the bad guys who set it up (who actually work for the anti-terrorist dept. itself!?!). But the hero lives and helped by some unknown doctor giving him some drug. This induces some reaction making him invisible. Bravo! The hero is set, time to beat the bad guys! There is absolutely zero science here and all we get is fill of ho-hum. The action is worse so is the crappy CGI! The dialogues are pathetic and even Emraan Hashmi couldn't save this ride. Not at all recommended.

I stopped watching Bollywood movies but after watching 'Badlapur', I thought they aren't that bad and so went to watch Mr. X because of its interesting plot which made me realize why I stopped watching Bollywood movies (again).
The film starts abruptly giving a crash course for the character's life, whole character development in first 15 min with the song, after that the characters are dropped and the actors are allowed to do whatever the hell they want.
The movie insults the intellect of the audience by offering bullshit logical explanation to how the protagonist gains his powers and what exactly is his power set. Somehow, a chemical that he ingests not only makes him invisible but also his clothes!! He becomes visible irrespective of the light source's direction. It is more than apparent that they have bent the logic to their convenience like giving the power of invisibility to a piece of clothing which had nothing to do with the chemical ingested or the chemical at the warehouse, just to keep the character clothed whenever he decides to make an appearance.
The heroine is given a complicated and borderline artificial personality, also a not so subtle attempt to portray her as an antagonist which FAILS and instead comes out really foolish.
The only thing that made this movie different was the new antagonist, he really had a presence but fellow actors sabotaged his talent and made him look like a fool too. Anyways the reason I rate this 4 instead of 2 is because of the antagonist.
I know getting an original idea is tough but doesn't mean that the producers (and/or directors) get to pick out a movie out of the shelf and remake it into a monstrosity.
To the directors: Please invest some time and find a set of eyes with a brain to tag along with you when you waste money making movies which kill your reputation and the viewer's time.
Moral of the story for the viewers: Check (and believe) the IMDb score before you decide to go to a movie!
