This is a very true and inspiring movie about the trafficking of girls and young ladies into prostitution rackets ,which is very rapport .
'Love Sonia' Is Disturbingly Haunting and Well-Crafted.
Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk has a scene towards the end where a blind man congratulates retreated British soldiers. Surprised by his gesture a soldier wonders, "All we did is survive." To which, the blind man says, "That's enough."
Love Sonia acknowledges this human spirit of a teen girl, who endures unimaginable brutalities and yet, dares to live. Sometimes, survival is the biggest victory when you don't have a choice.

I am no expert on Human Trafficking so I am assuming the incidents are honestly inspired and there is no propaganda, The story revolves around a girl who, in her desperate search for her sister, is forced to prostitution. The events forces the viewers to rethink where our society is heading. Trafficking can be seen through an economic perspective of demand and supply. People find market where there is demand but no supply. The movie looks across different spectrum of people on the demand side. From the poorest of the poor to ultra rich, all seemingly having the similar carnal desires of flesh. This desire manifests itself into a full fledged market of trading innocent lives. I have no opinion on whether prostitution is wrong or right but I find it depressing that people especially woman in this case do not have right to live a life of their own. They always seem to be at mercy of their circumstances. Exploiting the poor and the rich merchandising the poor have become of our society. The movie hits the nerves of this flawed system. The movie is far from perfect but true beauty lies in its imperfections.

Directed by story by tabrez noorani
Very dark movie made.
Love soniya is the story of a young girl 's Journey to rescue her sister from the Dangerous world of international Sex trafficking. That is shown in the Movie very well.
The real find is Mrunal Thakur who plays Sonia, the younger of two sisters, both victims of the vicious men and women who trade in flesh. Sonia gets ensnared in a brothel even as she struggles to discover the whereabouts of her sister Preeti. She has no idea where to start, but she has no intentions of giving up.
The lies, the false assurances, the blackmailing all play a role in gradual breakdown of Sonia's spirit which is equal parts frustrating and fascinating to behold.
I give 6/10

I do not have words to describe the impact that you take after watching this movie. The story of Sonia is the harsh truth of sex trafficking. All the actors have done justice to their characters. Rating this movie is just not enough to tell people how good it is.

Love Sonia is not just a movie; it's a gut-wrenching journey that takes you deep into the heart of darkness. From the very first frame to the last, it grabs you by the soul and refuses to let go. I was engulfed by the raw emotions unfolding on screen, I couldn't help but feel a myriad of emotions coursing through me - anger, despair, hope, and ultimately, a profound sense of empathy.
The film delves into the harrowing world of human trafficking with an unflinching gaze, shedding light on a global epidemic that often remains hidden in the shadows. Through the eyes of Sonia, portrayed brilliantly by newcomer Mrunal Thakur, we are thrust into a terrifying reality where innocence is a liability and survival is a constant struggle.
What struck me most about "Love Sonia" is its authenticity. Director Tabrez Noorani doesn't shy away from depicting the brutality and depravity of the trafficking industry. Every scene feels painfully real, every emotion raw and unfiltered. It's a testament to the filmmaker's commitment to telling this story with honesty and integrity.
The performances are nothing short of extraordinary. Thakur delivers a powerhouse performance, embodying Sonia's vulnerability and strength with equal conviction. Freida Pinto shines as Rashmi, a fellow victim who becomes Sonia's unlikely ally in the fight for freedom. And then there's Manoj Bajpayee, Rajkummar Rao, and Richa Chadda, who breathe life into their respective characters, adding layers of complexity to an already gripping narrative.
But beyond the performances and the storytelling, what truly sets "Love Sonia" apart is its message of resilience and hope. Despite the darkness that pervades every frame, there are moments of profound beauty and humanity that shine through. It's a reminder that even in the face of unimaginable cruelty, the human spirit has the power to endure and triumph.
It is more than just a movie; it's a wake-up call. It forces us to confront the harsh realities of the world we live in and compels us to take action. It's a film that stays with you long after the credits roll, haunting your thoughts and igniting a fire within your soul. And for that reason alone, it deserves to be seen.

This is my first ever review on IMDb, I'm writing this bcoz it made me to do so, hundreds are movies are realising every year in bollywood but didn't gets recognized.
Love Sonia !! is one of them.
It's an true story of 2 village girls trapped into human trafficking which is been beautifully defined on white canvas. Every character is been handpicked even for a short role too and done justice to it.
The movie itself is a blockbuster in its genre.

Any movie, which makes us see ourselves naked in front of our own emotions, which compels us to throw away our hard hollow shell and cry out our pain and agony, which brings us to the brink of tears and makes us see ourselves with more emapthy, serves its true purpose of being. Watching Love Sonia was such a feeling for me. It made me feel miserable for being the creed of such a faction of creatures who have no singularity whatsoever to their own thoughts and actions. It made me cringe with pain and horror because I was able to feel what Sonia must be feeling through her struggle. I wanted to scream out my suffering at seeing the injustice life had had for Sonia..

Love Sonia Movie Cast: Mrinal Thakur, Richa Chadha, Frida Pinto, Manoj Bajpayee, Anupam Kher, Adil Hussain, Sai Tamhankar
Love Sonia film director: Tabez Noorani
Love Sonia movie rating: 2.5 / 5.00 stars
My reaction after watching the movie
My initial expectation from Tabrez Noorani's Love Sonia was that it may be 'socially conscious message pictures' which all general people are not ready to appreciate. This film is a story of a girl from the Maharashtrian village, caught in the global sex trade network. It beautifully shows how this profession operates at many layers mainly as the organized business. This is a film that does not leave you the brutality of the truth, but it manages to poetic at the same time. In the past also the movies on this subject have been made, but they do not involve the audience with them and they offer the subject matter in such way that does not force us to think anything and be easily digestible.
The film raw power overwhelmed the audience and the audience applauds the talent to showcase the film in such a narrative, even after ending of the film audience leaves the cinema hall very silently. During watching the film you feel what the central character that young, school girl, Sonia goes through physically and what she experiences during the whole journey.
The Film clearly describes the total loss of innocence of childhood and how she faces the hard reality of life in a most unexpected way. While watching the film you experience that something is dying you inside as you witness the hell ride which Sonia goes through. Sonia comes in life like a striking charcoal painting; His lips are drawn with caution, both his gums and his teeth expose his battle for his surprise and his soul, which he is most afraid to lose. Love Sonia does not give up on the idea of beauty, and further shows us that in the density of information, in the abundance of truth, true artistic beauty is hidden.
Nice.

Love Sonia is the harsh truth. It is the necessity of our times.
This movie pretty much explains that the decisions we take in our life, may be influenced by anything, may change the course of life for someone else, who may or may not be related to you in any possible way.
The story is brilliantly fabricated through several prospective. You may be millionaire living in Los Angeles or Hong Kong, or you may be a poor Indian farmer who wishes to die due to the extensive drought in Maharashtra. There are several needs of human beings and this movie projects that a human would do ANYTHING to survive, and beyond that to satisfy his luxurious needs.
Cinema can make you learn pretty much anything, and that happens when so many spectacular performances come together to give you something to think about, something to shake you through your core, and something to make you do something.
A must watch movie

Mrunal Thakur is Sonia, a girl who follows her sister to Mumbai after she has been sold by her father. Sex trafficking is the theme and it is based on the true story of a girl shipped around the world in a shipping container. The trade is international in scope with Hong Kong and America a part of the locations of the film. It is a well made but brutal movie to watch and it will stay with me forever.

The dark side of sex-trafficking depicted in this film hits right to your core. It literally shook me from the inside! Everything in the film including acting, casting, script and storyline etc are excellent! Emotions are handled very well and the pace is good. A must watch beautiful piece of Indian cinema! Love sonia is a very good movie. It strikes all the right chords within you and makes you feel for the leading lady. Each scene is pitch perfect. Theme here is the way girls are forced into prostitution and they are never able to come out of it. Even if they do manage to run, they return to prost. due to drug addiction and the life style. Acting of Mrunal thakur was very very good. Same is the case with rest of the cast. Scenes of the brothel in mumbai were very macabre. Overall its a must watch and should be seen to realise the evils our society is has and no one dares to actually eradicate it.

But if someone tries to explore that, we should definitely support that attempt. Love Sonia is a hard hitting reality of the society. Also all the actors hav

This is one of the most disturbing and hard-hitting Indian films I have watched which was pain stacking to sit through and I cannot cut even a single mark in it. Maybe just as an optimistic person I might cut 1 mark because we don't have a movie-like hero saviour who does some crazy action scenes to stab these monsters to death but yeah that is just me being dilutional because we all know in real-life there are no saviours for these people. Does not mean there is no hope shown in the movie, you have to watch it to find it out. Talking about the film full marks to the makers and director Tabraiz Noorani who stayed true to the realism and difficult to watch genre and never let the screenplay dip. They never shied away from the torture and the dark brothel spaces which will make you dizzy like the protagonist does. One disturbing yet hard-hitting scene follows the other, you just keep hoping that this new character she is interacting with supports her and let's her run away but from her own parents to the brothel girls, the whole world sees her as a commodity. If your head doesn't hurt if you do not cry then you are a really strong person. The way the camerawork just uses close-ups, keeps the world really dark both literally and metaphorically is masterfully done and just shows a glimpse of the horror which millions go through everyday which blows my mind. It was wonderful to see international heavyweights like Demi Moore and mark Duplass involve themselves with it because this is not an exclusively Indian issue, this is a world issue and every individual should try their best in doing something to eradicate it. We throughout stay invested in this journey and it is extremely gripping, the major credit of which should go to National Award level performances by each and every actor. I have to start with one of my favourites currently and debutant Mrunal Thakur who is breathtakingly jaw-dropping, I mean an actress who can debut like this shows what she is made up of. She perfectly encapsulated a village teenager with heart-breaking innocence and shares a deep bond with her elder sister. We see the dirty world through her eyes and she carried the film on her young shoulders you cannot take your eyes off her. Her tears makes you weep, watch the scenes when someone is having sex with her against her consent, her expressions will shatter your heart. The best scene performed by her was when she meets her sister later in the film and her sister does not recognize her, the changes in expression in the whole scene is absolutely National Award worthy and she is one of the best Indian young actresses right now. There are plenty of veterans in it, most of them who were monsters but were perfectly believable and hateable, Anupam Kher, Manoj Bajpayee and Adil Hussain were absolutely fantastic. The convincing manner in which they were a**holes shows that they are 3 of the best thespians in Indian cinema. I liked Rajkumar Rao's presence in it, which comes as a slim beam of light in this dark tunnel and he as usual had his presence felt lik he does for every project. From the supporting cast my favourite though was Richa Chadha both for her performance and the layers and growth her character had. She came across as a ruthless person to Mrunal in this world at the start who seemes to have accustomed to this world pretty well but the realities and the turns her life takes and what this profession does to her was truly heart-breaking and Richa as usual knocked it out of the park in the most challenging scenes and holds her own and will make you teary for sure.
Overall it is an extremely difficult painful but important and hard-hitting award-winning watch. Do not expect any Bollywood heroism or typical hero saves the day (there are positives in this story as well but not in the way you expect so watch it to find out) or any commercial standard tropes in it, it is a glimpse of a dark real-life, if you can deal with it then watch, it is not for everyone but the ones who appreciate such cinema will find it a masterpiece. Total 5 stars from me.
