Hotel owner Helen O'Riley taking a tumble down the stairs. To clear her head, she goes for a walk on the beach, where she's approached by Amanda, who calmly claims to be her daughter.
I was keen to watch this primarily because it features Jackie Woodburne - Susan Kennedy herself from Neighbours, even back in the days when it was genuinely cool. But what on earth is going on with that wig? It looks like someone super-glued a crash helmet and rolled it around a wool shop. Absolutely diabolical. And why is she dressed like Jessica Fletcher?
If you've read any of my reviews, you'll know I often put up a fair defence of Channel 5 dramas, but this was just shocking. Honestly, it's one of the worst things they've ever put out - right up there with Anne Boleyn for sheer awfulness.
There are a lot of soap actors here, and unfortunately that's exactly what it felt like: a soap opera. The sentimental music and relentless emotional grabbing fail to land, mostly because the characters are wafer-thin and the story has been done about 8,000 times before. Even the graffiti felt oddly on the nose.
I love a Channel 5 drama. Truly I do. But this... it's dire.
3/10.
