Anyone who expects a tearjerker melodrama should change routes: Our Movie is not one. It's in fact a slice of life with the naturalism & technical characteristics of the French New Wave that treads delicately over the inevitability of life & death, and what we make of the space in between.
Its plot is simple with an ending that is told to you right on the 1st episode, however each episode is filled with beauty, pain, emotion, anxiety, friendship, jealousy, the things that make life what it is. It starts slowly, like in our childhoods, where days feel long, then relentlessly runs towards the finale without even you time to breathe sometimes. In this it reflects the advancement of the condition of the main character too. It doesn't dramatize but lets the audience soak in the feelings it transmits, without pretentiousness. Theatricality is one of the main technical motifs as shown by Lee Daeum when she plays Frida Kahlo for a school drama, then she continues to live putting on a play of strength and vivacity despite her pain. Lee Jeha puts on a theatrical play of his own, one of a cold, insensitive man who seeks to cut any interpersional relationship at its root to protect himself from loving anyone else who will die one day, like his mother did.
It is a tale of learning to let the fear of loving something that will be touched by death go. It weaves a beatiful tale of grief, of the love that is left in who is left behind, and their inability to find a place where to put it. It is so delicate in treating the condition of Lee Daeum without turning it into trauma porn or a character development plot for the male character. In fact, it's her life that opens him up, not her death.
Beautiful development of female characters, the director and writers refused to bastardize female relationships until the very end. It touches upon several issues faced by women in the industry too so bonus points for that.
Technically it is built like French cinema, with a nonlinear narrative; sometimes things are left unsaid or mid-sentence, and the characters are all faulty and erring with the ultimate desire for love & understanding.
Impeccable acting from leads. The character building, directing. Soundtrack is lovely.

I cried sooo much, the passion, slow burn, and happy loves here and there. It all fits so perfectly. The camcorder makes you feel like a 2nd person, not someone watching from tv. Jeha, his character slowly showing all passionate emotions and daeum, oh god, she is amazing. The bets drama to watch if you want to feel love and want to cry.
I've only watched two episodes of Our Movie so far, but it's already clear this series knows what it's doing. It's not just another melodrama filled with clichés-it pulls you in with sharp, emotionally charged dialogue and characters who feel real.
The conversations, especially between the leads, aren't just words-they hit deep. There's tension, vulnerability, and unspoken feelings in every line. You can feel the weight behind what they're saying and what they're not saying.
Even though I'm just getting started, I can already tell this drama has layers. It's not trying too hard-it just flows. It's raw in a way that keeps you watching, even if you weren't planning to binge.
If you're into emotionally rich storytelling and strong character dynamics, Our Movie is worth checking out. So far, I'm in-and I'm staying for the ride.

As someone who has watched Korean dramas for the past 10 years, i dare say this is one of the best dramas i have ever watched. Not the cliche, fluffy sort of drama, but something with depth and emotions. It's truly a masterpiece. The story is just so beautiful, and the cinematography is amazing. The cast is simply brilliant.
The story, well, it's not all butterflies and happy feelings like many Korean drama fans like, but something very different.
From the first episode, we get to see a very flawed characters who happen to be in pain, and life hasn't been fair to them yet it seems like the universe has other plans for them. Love is also just around the corner and fills this drama with emotions.
The cinematography is truly beautiful. The ost also matches the mood and the songs used make your heart flutter.
Definitely recommended to those who want to watch a high-quality beautiful Korean drama with a deep story.

I don't think I've ever been this emotionally shaken by a drama before. It's been days, and I still can't move on. It took me like 2 days to convince myself that they were just acting it's not real, I mean I know it's not real but the acting was insane to believe that it was just acting . Nam Goong Min, once again, proves why he's one of the finest. Every expression, every pause - it hits.
The way the story unfolded-especially the final episodes-left a deep ache in my heart. I feel like I lived through the characters, especially the male lead. His silent suffering, the memories, the longing... it's haunting.
I kept hoping for a miracle, a little happiness at the end-but instead, I was taken on an emotional rollercoaster I didn't ask for. I cried like I had lost someone in real life. If anyone saw me, they would think I was going through a breakup.
Even though it hurt, I can't deny how beautiful it was. The acting, the writing, the emotions-they were all too real. The acting was that realistic that I can't get enough courage to rewatch it .I just wish they gave us a little light after all the darkness. Maybe I'm a fool for expecting a happy ending, but I wanted peace for these characters I grew so attached to.
This story will stay with me forever. And maybe... that's both the blessing and the curse of such a powerful drama.
