What I like....
They have good chemistry and they're nice to look at. The history is interesting. Getting to see the interior of the chateau is cool if you love old houses, like I do. Tony and Ian are both enjoyable tv presences who are easy to watch. I think they do a nice job in their renovations and I disagree with the person who said they're using "big box" and "made in China" furniture solutions. My guess is they half watched one episode, heard they were American, and turned up their noses. Lazy and snobbish. They are careful in what they choose and use many of her grandfather's pieces, etc.. Also, sometimes I think they're going in a bad direction, too, but if you keep an open mind and wait to see how it comes out, it often does look very nice.
What I dislike....
the fake drama. C'mon, people. Nobody's buying it and it insults our intelligence. I don't care about hidden treasure or a window falling out.....or a situation anyone knows can be easily fixed for less, but you tell us the top shelf price and make it look as if it's a deal breaker. It's cheesy. It was obvious that one window they "couldn't get open" was locked. Don't be silly. The history and the renos are interesting enough, you don't need the other crap.
Also, I'm on episode 5 and I agree with the other reviewer who thought the whole thing with the grandmother was weird. She's annoyed Ian doesn't know French yet? She dislikes the reno....everyone seems stilted and forced. Why bother with it? It was uncomfortable and the grandmother may be a lovely woman but she doesn't come off well and I'm sure she didn't deserve to be shown that way.

I like watching 2 normal people and their struggles to keep the castle going. The castle is beautiful and I like following their journey. They are trying to get as much done that is within their budget (just like a normal person does). The issues they run into are normal - not made up drama. They come across as very real and relatable. I can't wait to see how it all turns out. Hoping there is a season 2 and more - there is still a lot to get done. I'm sure once they are done, they can go back and add the things they wish they could have when they have more money. Please let there be a season 2 and more.
I was shocked to see all the negative comments about the history of the castle being destroyed. If Daphne and Ian did nothing to the castle, the place would definitely fall into disrepair and be lost!
Some of the rotting areas of the castle are being discovered during the massive room to room restoration project. They also are doing a great job using historic items while gently updating this massive castle!
They even have a big shed of old antiques which are being used in each episodes. I'm also impressed that they are doing most of the work on their own! How many young couples do you know who are that resourceful and use the items they have instead of buying new things. When they do make purchases, they use furniture which fits the theme of the castle!
I've seen all of the episodes so far and look forward to seeing more renovations in future episodes!

I love everything old. Could not wait to watch this series and it has not disappointed. I love that. They're pretty much regular people trying to renovate a castle while still holding weddings that will fund this renovation. It's not like they're millionaires or have an investor to help them with this. They're real and they they're funny. I wish I could be there to help them. How wonderful they are doing this. I love when they go in the stables to look at all the stuff they have there renovate and bring into the castle. We faded three of our houses. So I know how much work this takes. Bravo to them.!

Daphne and Ian could not be any sweeter, I love the way they work together, the discoveries they make, the projects they take on. The castle, or Chateau as they call it is drenched in centuries of history bit its Daphnes grandfather who spurred her love and ambition to restore the castle and out buildings into a working wedding venue. There is true family history in every project, every episode and the end results are breathtaking! I binge watched the first six episodes and cannot wait for the next! I am so excited for their discoveries along with a real life treasure hunt along the way. There is so much more to see and discover with them. Absolutely enchanting!

- TriviaLeonora Dori Galigaï, along with her husband Concino Concini, purchased the Château de Lésigny, located in the rural outskirts of Paris, in 1613. The château itself, however, was originally constructed around 1508, well before Leonora's ownership, with its history tied to the Renaissance period in France. (This was AI generated)
