This film has inspired me to write my first ever review.
I'll be honest, halfway through I wanted to turn it off and stop watching. However, being a fan of Mariah Moss, I wanted to see her performance through. I'm glad I did! As Mariah did not disappoint! Her powerful performance leads an amazing cast into a redeeming storyline.
The main character, Samuel, is a treacherous villain that you will hate from the get-go. Anyone who can ruthlessly deny medical care to any child is despicable and beyond redemption. But I was wrong. While I wasn't quite cheering for him at the end, I found him redeemable as a man with faults who truly & deeply loved Jade. I'm glad they took the time to develop the characters and give them depth.
Yes, the mafia type violence at the beginning was cringe, but by the middle of the story it was all about the characters and the emotional connections and heart felt performances. This is where the true storytelling really took off. Trust me when I say it's worth the wait! The scenes between Samuel and James are truly refreshing in the vertical space. I won't spoil it! You'll have to see for yourself.
Myles Clohessy took us on an emotional journey ranging from pure evil to remorseful and even loving. He was able to pull off each emotion along the way with a convincing and believable performance.
Let's not forget Teig Sadhana! He has made me a fan with his swoon worthy performance! His portrayal of James had me second-guessing the plot to the very end. I could feel his love and heartache with every word and every look.
Truly a great cast and worth watching to the end!
