The series' working title, "Le Chat" ("The Cat"), and its storyline, seem to indicate that it takes inspiration from the real-life affair of "Le Chat", aka Roland Cazaux, who committed at least 36 rapes and attempted rapes in southwestern France between 1985 and 2002 before being caught. People involved with the series have however stated that the series is fictional, drawing elements from various real-life cases but not one in particular.
Only aired over a year after filming ended, an unusually long time for a TV production. Additionally, director Indra Siera, who helmed the entire series, is credited under a pseudonym, "Frank Steen", for unknown reasons.
