The Last Podcast on the Left Host Henry Zebrowski Teases New Movie ‘UFO: Unbelievably Friendly Organisms’
Image
The Last Podcast on the Left co-host Henry Zebrowski has announced new movie seemingly titled UFO: Unbelievably Friendly Organisms.

First contact was made via Instagram, which touts the project as “a film from the mind of” Zebrowski — implying that he’s writing and/or directing. He’s likely to appear on screen in some capacity as well.

Given the cheeky title and Zebrowski’s comedic background, this could be an irreverent send-up to E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.

No other details are available at this time, but stay tuned for the next transmission.

In addition to hosting the wildly popular horror podcast alongside longtime friends Marcus Parks and Ed Larson, Zebrowski is an actor and comedian known for his roles in “Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell,” “Heroes Reborn,” and The Wolf of Wall Street.

On the horror front, Zebrowski has appeared in After Midnight and Return to Return to Nuke ‘Em High Aka Vol. 2...

Marvel Officially Unveils a New Battleworld Continuity, And MCU Fans Need to See This
Image
In a shock move, Marvel has revealed new series Battleworld, putting a new spin on the Avengers' Secret Wars concept. The series will hurl together fragments of different realities from across the multiverse, creating a new world where heroes and villains are locked in a series of battles for survival.

This series is a major clue as to how the MCU will handle multiple versions of reality smashing together in Secret Wars.

The concept is an echo of 1984's Secret Wars, where the all-powerful Beyonder created a Battleworld as the setting for a contest between Marvel's heroes and villains, with Doctor Doom accomplishing something similar in 2015's Secret Wars event. Now, a new Battleworld has been formed with its own heroes from across Marvel's past and present comics.

The new series will include multiversal characters including King Thor, the Maestro Hulk and the original Star Brand of the New Universe...

"It Was One of the Best Seasons of TV": 'Landman's Ali Larter on the Challenge of Rebooting 'Heroes' for a New Generation [Exclusive]
Image
With Heroes: Eclipsed officially in the works, longtime fans of NBC’s genre-defining superhero series Heroes are wondering if any of the original cast might make a return. For Ali Larter, who played several of the show’s most iconic and mysterious roles — including Niki Sanders, Jessica, and Tracy Strauss — the idea of revisiting Heroes comes with mixed emotions. At the Newport Beach TV Festival, Larter spoke to Collider’s Aidan Kelley about her current success in Landman and whether she’d be interested in returning to the franchise that helped launch her into pop culture immortality.

“I have not heard that. I think they tried it a second time, but it didn’t quite click. The first season, I think, will always be one of the best seasons of TV. It was really special. It was powerful. It was kind of one of those magical moments.”

That “second time,...

Rob Liefeld Takes Another Shot at Marvel While Reflecting on His Captain America Revival: “Yes, my Cap was a blast”
Image
Recently, Rob Liefeld cut ties with Marvel, citing mistreatment by Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios. He felt snubbed at the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere in July 2024, where he and his family were excluded from the afterparty, professional photos of him were deleted, and he received no red carpet acknowledgment.

His issues with Marvel date back to 2023 when the company credited Roy Thomas as a co-creator of Wolverine, upsetting Liefeld, who was close to Len Wein’s widow. In 2024, he requested more prominent credit for Deadpool & Wolverine, but Marvel reportedly reacted negatively, leading to further fallout.

Despite his long history with Marvel, which included significant contributions to Deadpool and Cable, Liefeld ultimately decided to sever ties due to ongoing tensions and perceived disrespect.

What Has The Burn Notice Cast Been Up To Since The Show Ended?
Image
To be a proper spy, you tend to need the backing of some sort of organization, governmental or otherwise. Without that, you're just sort of a guy skulking around, and that's not very James Bond, is it? In "Burn Notice," Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) finds out firsthand what it's like to be a spy left out in the cold, when he is "burned" (or discredited) and abandoned by his former employer. Left with an impressive but fairly limited set of skills, he has no choice but to go freelance, taking on assignments within the criminal underworld of Miami.

"Burn Notice" initially ran on the USA Network, and it was popular enough to earn itself a respectable seven seasons from 2007 to 2013, as well four Emmy nominations over the years. After the show went off the air, its talented cast of performers moved on to other things. Now that it's been over...

Marvel is missing an opportunity with 'Thunderbolts' original concept
Image
As the build begins for Marvel’s Thunderbolts*, the question is whether the company is making the wrong move with the team.

After a rough 2023, the MCU took time off to regroup, pushed on by the Hollywood strikes. They are trying to bounce back with Deadpool & Wolverine and Captain America: Brave New World. Their big summer entry is Thunderbolts* (the asterisk is intentional), which looks fun.

The plotline has several supporting characters from previous Marvel movies pushed into a team: Bucky/The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), the Red Guardian (David Harbour), John Walker/US Agent (Wyatt Russell), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko).

The trailer hints at some wild action and comedy, unlike Guardians of the Galaxy or DC’s Suicide Squad. Yet that seems to be a missed opportunity for the movie version of the Thunderbolts to replicate the comics.

“Heroes” in disguise

10 Mystery Box Shows That Should Have Been the Next Lost (But Weren't)
Image
For many, LOSTwas an incredible experience that took viewers on a mystery adventure unlike any other on TV. While the ending was met with divided opinions, the series has stood the test of time and is still considered one of the most influential shows in history. This comes despite the sometimes-frustrating "mystery box" approach to its storytelling. JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof -- two of the men responsible for Lost -- are known to implement mystery box storytelling in their projects, and many have attempted to match their success in that realm.

Instead of taking the Clue or Knives Out route by presenting one primary mystery to drive the plot, a "mystery box" often presents several big mysteries to help build the story's lore -- with solutions being delivered at different points instead of during one big reveal. Some of those answers may not be straightforward and require multiple watches to completely understand,...

Who Was Robbie Kay's Pirates Of The Caribbean Character & What Happened To Him?
Image
Some will argue that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is not the worst Pirates of the Caribbean movie, but it does rapidly introduce characters who disappear from the franchise after the one-off adventure's end. The initial Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy has defined parameters. After the conclusion of the trilogy's main storyline and the departure of Orlando Bloom's Will Turner and Keira Knightley's Elizabeth Swann, Disney was challenged with coming up with a fresh new story, preferably with sequel potential, with Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow and Geoffrey Rush's Hector Barbossa still on board.

Penélope Cruz as Angelica was wasted; she could have carried a new era of Pirates of the Caribbean alongside Captain Jack, but the disappointing reception of On Stranger Tides led to another soft reboot and most of the characters from the fourth installment being dropped. This includes the replacement young lovers...

Fantastic Four Really Replaced the Thing With a Forgotten Hero Stronger Than the Hulk
Image
While the core team of the Fantastic Four has been in place since their 1961 debut, Marvel’s First Family have had to replace members occasionally throughout the decades. One forgotten member who briefly replaced the Thing was even stronger than Benjamin Jacob Grimm… before eventually moving over to the DC Universe.

The hero Maul took Thing’s place in Fantastic Four Vol. 2 #13, by James Robinson and Mike Wieringo. This was the beginning of the 'World War III' storyline, which saw Marvel and WildStorm combine their comic universes, creating new teams where their heroes worked together.

Known primarily as the strongman of Jim Lee’s WildCATs, Maul fills in for a missing Ben Grimm in the alternate reality depicted in 'World War III.' The storyline sees an alliance of Marvel’s Skrulls and WildStorm’s Daemonites waging war on Earth, with few heroes left behind to fight the good fight.

Heroes: Eclipsed - Confirmation & Everything We Know
Image
Nearly a decade-and-a-half after Heroes went off the air, the classic Aughts TV sensation is getting another major reboot in the form of the recently announced Heroes: Eclipsed. Debuting in 2006, the show was created by Tim Kring and follows ordinary people around the globe who discover that they suddenly have superpowers and must put them to good use to save the world. The first season was one of the pinnacles of 2000s TV, and it helped to shape the blossoming TV revolution that would explode in the early years of the 2010s.

Heroes' four seasons on the air were anything but smooth, and the show quickly took a nosedive after its first season captured audiences and earned it critical acclaim. Each subsequent season performed worse and worse with critics and in the ratings until Heroes was canceled after season 4 to the shock and surprise of its die-hard fanbase. 2015's Heroes Reborn...

Phil Coulson Explains Why He Doesn't Want a Superhero Persona, Despite New Infinity Stone Powers
Image
Phil Coulson enjoys anonymity for strategic advantage, avoiding superhero codenames in Black Widow: Venomous #1. Coulson prefers blending in to strike unexpectedly, repeating successful tactics whether hero or villain. Unassuming Phil Coulson's true power lies in surprising foes, a strategy that has proven fruitful in the past.

Warning: Spoilers for Black Widow: Venomous #1!Following his exploits in the comics, Phil Coulson has come a long way since his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Coulson was introduced as an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who easily gets lovestruck at the sight of the superheroes he works with. However, even as he's transitioning into becoming an official superhero, he's never had a superhero-esque codename.

A canonical reason is given for Phil Coulson's hesitance to adopt his own hero name in Black Widow: Venomous #1 by Erica Schultz, Luciano Vecchio, David Curiel, Rachelle Rosenberg, and Vc's Ariana Maher. Apparently,...

10 TV Show Franchises That Failed To Make A Comeback
Image
Reboots often struggle to capture the original magic, with some failing to gain traction due to poor imitation and lack of originality. The success of TV franchises like Suits and White Collar on streaming services has led to a rise in reboots, but not all are successful. Lack of chemistry, failure to modernize, and poor writing are common pitfalls of reboots, as seen in examples like Joey and Charmed.

TV franchises often attempt to make a comeback years after the end of their original shows, but this can have disastrous effects, failing to bring back the initial popularity. A franchise revival can fall flat for many reasons and occurs most often when the initial source material is so popular that living up to its legacy is practically impossible. Instead of striking out with new stories, actors, and themes, the shows are a poor imitation of a franchise that gained success because of its originality.

Captain America's Grossest Use of His Super Soldier Serum Basically Makes Him a Vampire
Image
Sam Wilson gains super soldier abilities by drinking Captain America's blood in the "Heroes Reborn" storyline, much like how a vampire creates new vampires. Despite the unhygienic method, Cap's plan works and Sam helps defeat the villains with his new powers. The controversial storyline saw some characters canceled and relaunched, with mixed responses from fans.

Vampires are currently running amok in the Marvel Universe thanks to the Blood Hunt crossover event, but one use of his super soldier serum basically made Captain America a vampire before all of that. In the Heroes Reborn continuity established in the 1990s, Sam Wilson gains the same abilities as Steve Rogers thanks to sharing the latters super soldier serum. However, the way he gets them is rather gross.

Released in 1997, Captain America (1996) #5 sees Cap taking on Red Skull and Master Man as they establish a new branch of Neo-Nazis and attempt to blow up Los Angeles.

10 Problems Heroes' New Reboot Must Fix 14 Years After The Original Show Ended

Heroes: Eclipsed must bring back original fan-favorite characters for a successful reboot. Have a clear end goal, like the original show, to keep the focus and direction clear. Avoid too many plot twists and character personality shifts to maintain a cohesive storyline.

Now the most recent outrage is directed toward the cast being “D-List” in nature. Everything started with the announcement that Pruitt Taylor Vince will be cast as Jonathan Kent in the upcoming reboot with Neva Howell cast as Martha Kent, Superman’s adoptive human mother.

Even though both actors are established in their own right with medium-sized roles, none of them in the past has led blockbusters. Vince will star as a series regular in the upcoming Apple TV+ series ‘Lady in the Lake,’ alongside Natalie Portman, set to release this summer. His extensive television work includes appearances in popular series such as Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things,’ Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,...

Fans Slam James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ Cast for Lack of Diversity and Low Budget???
Image
It appears that every announcement about James Gunn’s upcoming ‘Superman’ reboot sparks controversy. Some time ago, when Milly Alcock was cast as Supergirl, the director faced criticism for assembling an all-white main cast (despite Supergirl not being a part of main cast…)

Now, the latest uproar revolves around the perceived “D-List” nature of the cast. It all began with the announcement of Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent and Neva Howell as Martha Kent, Superman’s adoptive human parents, in the upcoming reboot.

Although both actors have established themselves with medium-sized roles, neither has previously headlined blockbuster films. Vince is set to star as a series regular in the upcoming Apple TV+ series ‘Lady in the Lake,’ alongside Natalie Portman, scheduled for release this summer. His extensive television credits include appearances in popular series like Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things,’ Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ and NBC’s ‘Heroes Reborn....

Heroes' Second Reboot In 9 Years Is The Last Chance To Fix Season 2's Infamous Mistakes
Image
Heroes: Eclipsed is the last chance to revive the Heroes franchise under Tim Kring. Previous seasons failed to recapture the magic of the show's first season. To succeed, Eclipsed must focus on character development and avoid past mistakes.

Heroes: Eclipsed could give series creator Tim Kring one last chance to bring the Heroes franchise to its original heights. When Heroes premiered, the purposefully grounded approach to the superhero genre became a hit for NBC. However, the second season of the show was an infamous mess, with a truncated storyline and clunky writing costing Heroes much of the goodwill it developed early on. The subsequent Heroes seasons attempted to recapture the magic of the first season but largely failed. Heroes ran for four seasons before being canceled.

It was eventually followed up with a miniseries titled Heroes Reborn, but the continuation failed to renew interest in the franchise. Now, Kring is...

8 Heroes Characters Who Need To Return In The New Reboot
Image
Heroes is set to get a remake and deserves a return of key characters like Sylar, portrayed by Zachary Quinto, to continue their stories. Characters like Tommy Clark and Malina Bennet from Heroes Reborn have unresolved stories that should continue in the new series. Characters like Mohinder Suresh and Tracy Strauss should also be brought back to help develop the narrative in the upcoming Heroes: Eclipsed series.

Heroes is set to get a remake, but to do the original series justice, several characters need to return and finish their story. Heroes quickly gained widespread critical acclaim after the first season began airing in 2006 and the series was nominated for a variety of awards, including Primetime Emmys. However, after the incredible start to the series, later seasons lost momentum and viewership took a sharp dive (via The Guardian). The series was then canceled due to the ratings drop, and the series...

Heroes' Latest Reboot Comes At The Worst Possible Time - And That's Why I Can't Wait
Image
Heroes: Eclipsed brings back original creator Tim Kring for a new story set several years later. Despite the oversaturation of superhero content, Heroes: Eclipsed could offer a fresh take on the genre by returning to its groundbreaking roots. To succeed, Heroes: Eclipsed must address past issues, rediscover its magic, and innovate to keep up with modern superhero storytelling.

Heroes' latest reboot attempt may come at the worst possible time, but in a strange way, that only makes Heroes: Eclipsed even more tantalizing. Heroes premiered with a bang in 2006, and for a brief time, Tim Kring's superhero universe was among the biggest things on TV. The Kringdom rapidly collapsed as the disappointing Heroes season 2 suffered one of the worst sophomore slumps in TV history. Seasons 3 and 4 nobly attempted to course-correct, but the damage had been done, and Heroes was canceled unceremoniously in 2010. Rather than turning the franchise's fortunes around, 2015's short-lived...

Heroes Star Gives Bleak Outlook for Another Series Revival and Possible Dcu Batman Casting
Image
Milo Ventimiglia believes that a return of the TV series "Heroes" is unlikely, as the attempted reboot didn't go well. Ventimiglia thinks that the original series' success was due to the depth of its characters, which was lacking in the reboot. The "Heroes" franchise has been dormant since the failed reboot, and there are no signs of it being revived in the near future.

Before the MCU took the world by storm in 2008 with an eccentric billionaire building a suit of armor, NBC debuted Heroes in 2006, dealing with ordinary people who found themselves with extraordinary powers. As a key component of the original series, Milo Ventimiglia has spoken out about whether he believes the show will get a chance to return for a third time. For fans of the superhero drama, the news isn't good.

Milo Ventimiglia Is Pessimistic On A ‘Heroes’ Revival & Reveals Why He Won’t Audition For Batman In ‘The Brave & The Bold’
Image
Milo Ventimiglia is opening up about the Heroes reboot and the possibility of a new revival. The actor also revealed why he won’t be auditioning for the Batman role in The Brave and the Bold film that James Gunn is working on as part of the new DC Universe he is constructing alongside Peter Safran.

In a new interview, the This Is Us alum was pessimistic about the idea of bringing back Heroes, the 2006 Tim Kring-created superhero series that aired on NBC for four seasons.

“I feel like I’ve been trained to say ‘never say never.’ But I think when they tried to bring back Heroes and reboot Heroes, it was a bit of a soft landing,” Ventimiglia said in an interview with ComicBook. “I don’t think that one’s gonna be revisited again.”

Ventimiglia played the role of Peter Petrelli, a hospice nurse who can mimic other people’s abilities.

Heroes Actor Opens Up About Possible Second Series Revival
Image
Milo Ventimiglia, who played Peter Petrelli in the NBC superhero series Heroes, which ran from 2006 to 2010, has little hope for a second series revival.

"I feel like I've been trained to say, ''never say never,'' but I think when they tried to bring back Heroes and reboot Heroes, it was a bit of a soft landing," Ventimiglia told ComicBook while promoting his new film Land of Bad. "I don't think that one's gonna be revisited again. I think it's just one of those things [that] I think they tried, and it didn't quite go," he said about the 13-episode revival, which didn't include much of the original cast.

"World War III": Why Marvel & DC's Lost Crossover Will Probably Never Be Seen Again
Image
"World War III" was a forgotten Marvel/DC crossover from 1997 that merged the Wildstorm and Heroes Reborn universes. The crossover allowed creators to do whatever they wanted with characters, resulting in a high body count and traitorous heroes. The story will never be republished due to real world events and the integration of Wildstorm characters into the main DC Universe.

While a Marvel/DC crossover is highly unlikely these days, there was a time when the two companies pitted their characters together on a fairly regular basis. In spite of all that, there is one story that has been forgotten, and really only became an official “Marvel/DC” crossover years after its original publication. This is the bizarre yet true story of “World War III,” a crossover from 1997 that’s since been lost to the ages.

The story of how “World War III” came to be starts the year before its publication.
