Watched at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.
DJ Ahmet doesn't hold anything ground breaking about the bonds of father and son and the whole theme of being yourself despite being in a conservative society. Yet, it's visual camerawork, strong lead performance, and ambitious direction approach still offers a nice and cute observation of growing up, music, and trying to be the person you desire rather what society tells.
Provided with some good production and costumes, the simple nature environment offers a nice style and easy going experience. North Macedonia culture is very interesting and the movie offers a solid insight to the people, culture and background. Including some solid dance sequences and music. While the simple narrative doesn't offer anything new and some of the bad lightening and aimless tone doesn't fully work, at the end of the day, it's a simple delightful story.
