This is an epic movie. So epic it hurts. It is well produced and you can really feel that it's a genuine dream project of the creator. The pacing works brilliantly, the soundtrack fits perfect with the action and theme, and the special effects is really high class.
Awesome in everything and just simply a great ride! It has laser shooting dinosaurs, kung fu, Vikings with guns, time travel, a Norse god, Adolf Hitler as villain etcetera etcetera. It is plus size extra everything crammed into 30 minutes. It's like riding a roller-coaster of 80s entertainment with everything from street fighter style fighting to a 80s flying credits. Plus, the director/writer/lead actor David Sandberg is strikingly attractive and works really well as the star Kung Fury. Good looking and bad-ass – what more do you need?
You think this review is over the top? Well so is the movie. This movie turned me from a 30- something movie critic into a little fan boy.

Have you ever heard the term "this is so bad, it's back to good again" ?
Well, this is definitely the reason, or one of them, this phrase exists. This is so bad, there are no words for it. At the same time it's so funny it's actually genius!
If you are looking for absolutely over-the-top gory effects and you probably even are a fan of "Danger 5", this one is for you.
As a bonus, you'll get pretty much every cliché about the Eighties, plus some of the worst hairdo of the era.
No seriously, watch this!

If you are dying today, and you have survived 80's, this is what would be flashing in front of you in the moment of your death. The moment when VCR start syncing your tape is precious and it pushed me back to the past. Idiotic plot is well written, I was laughing sincerely. This movie is fun, entertaining and most of all, awesome. After watching it I went to the street and start fighting with everyone. I think I know karate now. It seams that there is going to be Kung Fury II, and I'm anxiously waiting for it from this moment on. It doesn't have any erotic scene, that is why I only gave it 9. But hopefully, sequel will be filled with 80's eroticism. Thank you Thor.
Kung Fury succeeds in what it's trying to do. Being a over-the-top homage to 80's action silliness.
I have heard it being said that it tries too hard, and it does try hard, but again, that is also sort of the point. With its short run time, almost every scene is a spectacle in some way.
Kung Fury is about a half hour long, and it's fortunate that it isn't longer, because that would have been triple overkill. It's the right length.
Not all the humor hit home with me, but I am a tough crowd, when it comes to humor. And I'm sure most people does think it is very funny.
Kung Fury has several really cool action sequences, and I really love the wonky style it is made in. You can clearly see that, I assume pretty much the whole movie, is green screen. It really fits. The effects are overall executed well, it's not WETA-quality, and it doesn't need to be, actually it probably shouldn't be. The style works very well.
Not going to say all that much. Bottom line is you can't go wrong with this one, nothing here is serious, and should it not be your cup of tea, it only lasts 30 minutes.
Big plus for one of the fighting sequences, made to look like it's one long take, (you'll know when you see it) it's like 300 meets Old Boy meets Mortal Kombat. It is without a doubt the single best thing in the whole movie. Truly awesome. More scenes like that one, and it would have scored higher with me.

Hitler: (Phoning the police) "Hello is this the police?"
Police officer on the phone: "Yes".
Hitler: "Fuck you!"
Kung Fury started off as a fan film made by David Sandberg that got released on the YouTube as 30 min short film, but in a matter of hours it was a big hit with it's views and the amount of people loved it because they got that nostalgic 80's feel to it. I got so much praised and so much love that it got a big release. So I checked it out myself just to see what was all the fuss about and I got to say that Kung Fury is the coolest action movie of 2015, it's right up there with Mad Max: Fury Road.
What really surprise me is that this is just a fan movie and it blows my mind how fans can make a better and more well made movie then even Hollywood can sh*t out, I mean David Sandberg put a lot of effort to make the whole movie look like a out of date VHS tape and to catch the 80's magic and it payed off so well.
The movie is really funny, the actor who played Hitler in the movie did really good and David Sandberg made a pretty awesome movie that's creative and fresh.
For problems I had for this movie these only a couple like: These one scene towards the end that kind of lost me a little and that's the end battle with Hitler vs. Kung Fury.
Some of the dialogue needs improving a little bit, but besides that this movie is awesome and it brought a lot of the 80's action fluff that we as movie lovers loved in the first place and it's so good to see it again in this brilliant 30 min short movie.
It's free on YouTube if you want to check it out and the video is only 30 mins long and it was 30 mins of awesomeness.

¿Sabías que…?
- TriviaAs Sandberg could only afford one police uniform, he filmed the police precinct scene by shooting each extra separately and compositing them in the scene.
- ErroresAt 10:30 Hackerman tried to kinda convert equation E=m*c^2 to E=m*c^3 for hacking time. But in a line of his code he wrote "double e = Math.power( m*c , 2);" which calculates m^2*c^2, not m*c^2. However, this mistake is the reason why he hacked too much time.
