Buddy Hutchins stars Jamie Kennedy. While he's not exactly a household name and you might not immediately recognize his face, Kennedy has been a busy actor with about a hundred credits. However, I just can't see how doing films like this one will help his career or land him choice roles.
The first half of this film is very good and Kennedy is great playing a guy whose life keeps getting worse and worse and worse. At first you like him and he's trying to do the best that he can, but his sobriety and family life soon start crumbling away. But it gets far worse. In fact, I challenge you to find a film where anyone's life gets THIS bad so quickly! Heck, guys on death row would probably feel sorry for Buddy--it's THAT terrible! I appreciated this and expected that sooner or later Buddy would just snap. And, when he did, it was not his fault. I liked that the first two people he killed were clearly cases of self-defense--it made for an exciting second half. Unfortunately, when the film should have hit its stride, the movie just fell apart and looked almost like a Friday the 13th film--with Buddy brutally killing people who just didn't deserve it. And, many of the killings were frightfully gross (think chainsaws). Because of this, because the second half of the film lacked a plot and the resolution was so poor and because I worry that some folks might enjoy the movie TOO MUCH, I just hated Buddy Hutchins by the time it was over...and it took way, way too long for the final credits to roll by the way. It's all a shame, as clearly Jamie Kennedy is very talented--he did a great job in making you care about him and played an excellent 'dry drunk' (in essence, a guy who isn't using but is still stuck in the sick patterns of an alcoholic).
However, if you do watch this film, look for a very funny mistake. During Buddy's divorce trial, the judge says that the case is in California and there is a California flag behind him. Yet, there ALSO is a state seal for Nevada next to the flag as well. Oops!

I watched this because I remembered the guy from Malibu's Most Wanted and thought he was hilarious in that. I don't think it's a spoiler to say he's no longer hilarious. This was the stupidest acting job I've seen since I watched Keanu Reeves try to speak with an English accent in Bram Stoker's Dracula. It's not that Kennedy is a bad actor, it's just that I didn't care if his character lived or died--he didn't bring anything to it. If you don't care about the main character, what's the point? Really, no kidding, a very lame picture. The first half was promising but after about 40-45 minutes it went downhill so fast it was all I could do to keep watching. Save your money and your time.
Man I don't really know what to say. THis movie is so bad. I believe the worst two things about it are 1. The acting. Kennedy was never good in his career but in this he obviously was doing it for a paycheck. All the no name actors were just atrocious. Its really hard to watch without feeling embarrassed. 2. The sound design. Watch for yourself. Jamie kennedy has a blazing guitar solo at one part while playing one note???? The footsteps don't match the video or the proper sound they should be making which makes it really hard to watch as well. And who color graded the thing? The color grade changes mid shot in some scenes!!!! And there is an awful haze over a lot of it. I guess the only real purpose of the movie is to show a film class on what not to do when making and editing a film. 0/10
Started watching this and only got through the first 45 minutes, the acting is terrible to say the least. If i had the chance to give this less than 1 would. It is not often that i turn off a movie but this has to be the worst movie ever. Whatever happened to Randy from scream i have no idea as he is a complete mess and cant act for crap. In most movies like this you are supposed to feel somewhat sorry for the guy but no chance in hell do i feel sorry for him as he is just simply thick. Advice to anyone who is expecting a good film please do not support this film and the director who has no clue whatsoever. There are low budget movies and then there is just plain simple crap which this is.
I saw this on Prime under the title FALLING DOWN AGAIN, a weak attempt to link it to the cult Michael Douglas starrer that wowed us all in the early 1990s. Well, this film is nothing like, and indeed nothing more than a gory B-movie thriller with an oddly camp tone. It stars SCREAM's Jamie Kennedy as a family man who reaches breaking point due to a combination of social, marital and work-related woes, and eventually what slim plotting exists gives way to a simple bloodbath. Truth be told, there's very little here of note: the acting is annoyingly over the top, including from Kennedy, there are no sympathetic characters, and the violence is simply goofy.
