A good series, and I hope more people watch it. It's based on true events and very well done. For those familiar with this tragedy, it may be too familiar, but it's very detailed and has many surprises that I don't think anyone knows about.

The atmosphere of a small Dutch farm town is present throughout. The tension between the families after a tragedy are very well portrayed.

It is a long agonizing process also for the police and the frustration and tensions are hard to watch at times.

The performances are excellent and the Dutch culture well portrayed.

The title translation, The Hunt, is quite inapt, since it implies manhunts and chases. Instead, this Dutch series is about as moody as any crime drama can possibly get. The original title at the other hand is a lot better.

I recommended for those keenly interested in this kind of true crimes investigations. Worth it!

When production was announced there was doubt and protest from family and other people. Leave us, let the hard memories be....

But.....

This story held the Netherlands in a grip that was unbelievable. Through the years this case was never forgotten thanks to our best and most beloved crime investigator, Peter R. De Vries (who was unfortunately murdered not long ago). He never stopped looking for the perpetrator. When there was a breakthrough in the case everybody was glued to the TV (or social media) again for the news.

This serie gives a great peak into the closeness, small community life, everybody knows everybody culture and country living of the family, next of kin, friends and other folk in that area.

It is a mesmerizing report of what happened and what the consequences were. And how it affected the whole community.

Also the acting skills are worth a reward. I've seen almost all Dutch movies and series. In this one there is only one actor that was chosen badly. But all the other characters are so well portrayed by experienced actors but also by less known actors.
