Torrente 5 is a very well done movie, with high quality images and production, nice VFX, nice jokes. Everything you can expect and much more from a Torrente movie.
The cameos are very entertaining and funny and the old jokes are always welcome. It is a very good movie from the saga, well directed and well chosen actors.
It is what you can expect, the bad taste jokes from all times and new jokes very well adapted, with a shallow criticism (sometimes we need somebody to jump over the tabu) and very entertaining. And cinema is, over all, entertainment + money. It gave what i wanted to see and much more.
Segura is a great director. Torrente 5 should be the last movie, and now we wait for other stories and plots.

What a way to waste $8 million, the cost to produce this garbage ... Another example of the superficial, cheap, insensitive, degrading, and rotten content that most of the world of cinema has become ... just one out of ten thousand films produced nowadays are worth watching. It's the first time I watch one of these films (Torrente) from beginning to end... and it truly depicts the spiritual poverty inside the director, Santiago Segura ... Recently I heard a very remarkable producer and actor, named Eduardo Verastegui, saying that what is produced in Hollywood or any other place where films and TV shows are made ... is simply the reflection of that which is in the heart of the producer, director, and actor ... That's right. The Kendrick brothers know that well. You can produce a film to inspire and bless millions of marriages such as Fireproof, or you can produce this type of Torrente series garbage to entertain and degrade women and men. How sad that some of the most trashy films I have ever seen are produced in Spain. As Spaniard, I feel ashamed... but the US or other countries are not that different. I hope these people who produce cheap entertainment at very high cost of production will change their hearts and start to produce something that has a little of substance and depth. How much talent wasted. Joaquin Fenollar
I love the TORRENTE character and I believe if perhaps the greater movie character ever developed; however after waiting to almost 1 AM to see the movie (on a Wednesday) because it was SOLD OUT; after a few minutes I almost leave the theater completely disappointed.
First of all; some characters are back but with different actors and not as good as the originals. Others quite capable like Firoentino Fernandez are almost unused. Screen time was given to the more stupid characters (perhaps cheaper actors) and very little to the really good ones but Santiago Segura who this time is not really able to keep the movie going.
Alec Baldwin is another misstep; usually a good actor and somewhat comedian; here is none. Only overacts as the bad guy and dares to speak Spanish (not that bad really but little).
Instead of going to excess situations the script tries to criticize Spanish political situation. If you are aware of what is happening there you can catch some jokes; but it is not easy to understand, I really hope Segura (also the writer and director) makes some money to repair this mess and makes a good Torrente 6. In the meantime; just forget this.

Godawful dumbifying movie.Whatever possessed Alec Baldwin to be part of this is beyond me, watching him having to go along with the gross stupid humorless jokes was painful, kind of like De Niro making "fun" of Taxi Driver in Rocky and Bullwinkle. No joke ever work, editing looks rushed, poor choices everywhere, actors have no comedy timing , specially lead actor Segura.
This is much worst than that movie. This is bad, idiotic, terrible movie making. There is nothing else to say. Avoid like Ebola.
The dumb obligation to write at least 10 lines of text forces me to add this.

Casposo (dandruffy) is used in Spain to describe poor concoctions, endeavors that lack ambition, half hearted efforts that exploit the simplest forms of entertainment. Torrente, Santiago Seguraś character returns for a 5th outing and the results are what you can expect when a franchise has been eploited for so long, specially if its core elements are bad taste humor, fecal jokes, and continuous demonstrations of bad manners. As usual, Torrente, mean spirited, shitty, bad mouthed, etc. has a grandiose plan for which he is forced to recruit the dumbest, most ridiculous and unoperative collection of crooks, embodied by an eccentric selection of real life has beens, freaky stand up comedians with no acting experience, a matador and some TV stars, with the added presence of A. Baldwin that seems to have had a good time entertaining those types, so far away from his world. The result is the one you would expect: hilarious for the addicts, so so for discriminating audiences.
Santiago Segura proves again he is a pretty good director, although devoured by his creation. Ford Coppola famously said once that Star Wars had ended the career of the most talented director of its generation. Something similar can be said about Segura: He seems to be a slave of his character, obsessed with serving yet another dose of its antics, each time with less success, but even so a success so big, in Spanish terms, at least, that keeps him entangled with his creation, unable to break away to other stories I'm sure he'll do as well or even better.

- TriviaThe character of Cuco (former Torrente's sidekick from Torrente 2: Misión en Marbella (2001)) is now played by Julián López. Gabino Diego, who originally played that character and also had a small cameo on the first movie (Torrente, el brazo tonto de la ley (1998)) has not returned to the franchise since 2001.
- Créditos curiososAt the end of the credits there's a brief scene where Sonsoles (Cuadrado's wife), who is still tied and taped mouth in the hotel room, talks to the audience. Mary Carmen, the actress who plays Sonsoles, is a famous ventriloquist in Spain, and indeed she impersonates the voice of Doña Rogelia, one of her memorable characters. Also, Dominguero's voice (from the WC) can be heard asking for the soccer game score.
