Zombie Repellant

I agree with adrianacav that this movie is a fun zombie movie with a very original twist. It's humorous, well written and light-hearted.

I thought the acting was all around top-notch! It's at least a strong 6, but with the added bloopers I rate it a 7.

I've watched several New Zealand Son Films', The Vampire Next Door, 2024, Alien Weekend, 2024, My Alien Girlfriend, 2021, and this one. Each one shows the same characteristics of being fun, humorous, well written and light-hearted.

The sound, camera work, direction and story-telling is impressive.

The whole time I was watching, it felt like watching a school project. Don't get me wrong, the cast did their best, and I appreciate a good effort. But the acting does not carry the movie, the script and storyline does-which, might I add, is like watching an amateur model in flimsy bland, boring, clothes (Model being the actors; clothes being the script).

Cinematography was average, props and sfx are okay, though some of the sound effects seem out of place, which may throw some people off-to summarize, everything is just okay and nothing special.

THEY ALSO USED AI IMAGES! Which made me laugh, then skip every 5 minutes of the movie.

Do I recommend? Nah. Will I watch again? Nah.

The fact that this was a zombie movie that I hadn't already seen, nor actually heard about, was more than sufficient to make me sit down and watch the movie as I had the opportunity to do so. I am a big fan of all things zombie, so of course I had to see what writer and director Sean King had to bring to the zombie genre.

The storyline was sort of bland. Writer Sean King was sort of aiming at a horror comedy, but the movie had very little of both ingredients, and that didn't make for a particularly entertaining movie. The movie was devoid of laughs and funny moments, and there wasn't really any horror to be found anywhere. Unless you consider a bland script to be horror.

I was not familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie. I will say, though, that the acting performances in the movie were fair, despite the fact that the script was bland.

The zombie make-up and special effects were low key and low budget. Sure, it wasn't among the worst of special effects I've seen in a zombie movie, but you're not in for anything extraordinary here.

Sure, "Zombie Repellent" was a watchable movie, but hardly one that warrants more than a single viewing. Is it a movie that I would recommend to fans of the zombie genre? No. Not really. Is it a movie that I will ever return to watch a second time? No. Not really.

My rating of writer and director Sean King's 2025 movie "Zombie Repellent" lands on a three out of ten stars.

If you are a zombie fan looking for a zombie movie - this is not our choice.

This film is not about zombies, it's just another "rural horror" trying to be funny with an unexpected twist, but in the end it fails in all of this aspects - it's not scary, it's not funny, all characters are annoying and their dialogues are boring.

Three stars just for the twist.
