It's worth the watch

If you are bored or having a bad day or have trouble sleeping. I believe this show is one of the most heartwarming shows I've seen.

It's not extraordinary or have a driving story but it's more like the inside out two film. This show is just about how the department of dreams help Riley make life changing decisions but at the core it's about the really of dreams and the movie industry as a whole.

I for one wasn't bored by a single moment. It wasn't what I wanted or expected but like I said before it's worth the watch.

I wish more shows like this are made instead of spending too much on making films that no one really cares about.

Better than expected

Have you run out of shows while you wait for a new season of your favorite show, well Disney+ has this little hidden gem!

I really recommend it, it's not the same emotional roller-coaster as the films, but it's good and definitely worth the watch and I'm even a big Disney critic when it comes to alot of their newest releases.

People obviously have different tastes, that's also when it comes to Disney spin off shows, in my opinion this is worth a watch.

I am hoping for another season of this and I don't mind it being only a few episodes like this one, they could actually keep this up for a few seasons, market it alittle more and maybe have Riley grow up and having her dreams progress more, just an idea.

Better than you think

There's a lot of negatives and positives from this show but I'll recommend it to anyone who likes the inside out franchise.

Unlike most Disney plus shows this one is quite a relaxing sight that will put a smile on your face. It starts off a basic master student drama but as the show progresses it connects to a much more emotional story that anyone could relate to.

I found a lot of moments in the show quite predictable but still very interesting. Some of the characters are a bit boring and too easy to understand while others are quite the watch.

Overall it's not what you think it better than that.

The American Office but Child friendly and in your head.

Have just finished watching and Pixar have struck gold with the TV documentary style show depicting the stars and creators of our dreams. Genuinely funny and I was personally just as emotionally invested in this as I was during the famous beats in Toy Story 2 and Up. Funny, Uplifting. Genuinely worth making some popcorn and loosing a couple of hours in an evening. I sincerely hope that the creative team come back for more. My only and main criticism is that it is clearly a movie split into 4 parts. I want more. Someone get this show a second season! With the concept it could genuinely go on for years and remain this good.

Little Desert for the Night

Like a little dessert, it has all the spirit of Inside Out but explores a world so interesting and beautiful that you can't help but want more. The characters are just perfect, each with their unique charm and depth, and the quality is stunning-just like the movie. However, while it's undeniably delightful, it feels like a missed opportunity to fully delve into the richness of this world. There's so much potential to expand the storylines, deepen the emotional arcs, and truly immerse the audience. With only four episodes, it feels like a brief taste of something that could have been a masterpiece if given more time. Still, it's a joy to watch, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a short but memorable experience.

Pixar's version of the Office!

I love the two Inside Out movies, they are among my favorite Pixar animated movies of all time and when I found out that there was a mini series about Riley's dreams, I knew that I was watching to it. Well, I just finished watching it and this was an excellent mini series as well as one of the best shows of 2024.

Positives for Dream Productions (2024): This mini series does what made the two Inside Out movies did so well which is exploring element of the human experience in a creative and unique way. For all the crap that I tend to give Disney lately, whenever they had an idea as brilliant as this one, they do it better than no one else. I also loved how the Dream Productions logo is the same as Paramount Pictures. The mini series uses the mockumentary style of The Office and that was cool to see. I really enjoyed a lot of the characters and the journeys they go on are awesome. And finally, this is one of those mini series that can be enjoyed with the entire family.

Overall, Dream Productions (2024) was a fantastic mini series and another hit from Pixar that I can see myself rewatching in the future and it serves as a great companion to the Inside Out movies.

A fun series about dreaming that really keeps you awake

In this mini series we meet the team behind Riley's dreams. The dreams are pretty much run like short films and unfortunately the main director (Paula Permission voiced by Paula Pell) still thinks that Riley is a kid who still remembers the dream that helped her give up her dummy when she was a baby so when Riley struggles with the big decision of whether or not to go to her first highschool dance Paula thinks it's best for Riley to take her unicorn toy. And as the dance gets closer and the dreams get more intense Paula struggles with nightmares and sleepwalking which makes the series intense. Will Paula be able to accept that Riley is growing up and help her get over this fear of going to the dance...well you'll have to watch the series to find out.

I also found the series a bit slow to start off with but by the 2nd episode I was laughing quite a bit especially at a part when Paula is talking to the audience whilst in a car and she lets her dog drive and all you can see in the background is them crashing into everything. Most of the story is told via Paula speaking to the camera which was enjoyable and funny.

The series is also set in between Inside Out 1 & 2 so it would be really good to see a 2nd series where we meet the more grown up emotions like anxiety, envy, etc. It would also be good to see a 2nd season because the 1st season is only 4 short episodes and I would love to see more of this world by watching a prequel as well as a sequel. So, if they do make a 2nd season I would happily watch it and I would also happily watch this season again as well.

Cute and absolutely genius

The show takes place as a bit part in the movies. It uses recurring characters from the dream sequences in the movies inside out and all new characters as well. It's filmed liked one of those behind the scenes talking things, which is not bad. The show has alot of creativity to it and the way the plot runs away with itself is outright hilarious and ingenious. It keeps to the morale of the story, the main character has to realize something about herself and those around her. Great writing about screen writers for dreams. I could watch several seasons of this show and be happy. Keep up the creative work!

Dream On, But Don't Dream Too Big

"Dream Productions" offers a fun and original concept with a creative premise that showcases some great character development. The series is easy to watch, mainly due to its short runtime, which prevents it from becoming overwhelming. However, despite the interesting concept, I found it difficult to fully connect with the characters. They are charming, but I didn't feel the same emotional attachment as I did with the characters from Inside Out. While the series is entertaining enough, it didn't manage to hold my attention for long periods. My deep love for the Inside Out films may have influenced my expectations, and as a result, I couldn't help but compare the two, which impacted my enjoyment of this series. Overall, it's an enjoyable watch, but it didn't quite capture the magic I was hoping for.

Marvelous

This show is great!

Dream Productions was always my favorite part of the original Inside Out movie, so I was thrilled when I heard Pixar was making a spinoff series for Dream Productions.

There was so much character growth and development, and the ending was really great.

I would love to see more Inside Out movies and series in the future, and of course it's always a plus when my RH fam appears.

Maya played Noriko, and Kimberly played Gigi.

I really liked everything about this show, and I encourage you to give it a try, because it's really sweet.

Thank you for reading my review.

I've been dreaming of this show since 2015!

A cute chip of the block of Inside Out, but lacks the hard hitting emotional heft of the movies

More of a mini-movie split into 4 parts than a mini-series, Dream Productions fits smoothly into the canon of the other two movies. The movie introduces us into some inner workings of the Dream studio. The humor and animation quality are top notch, and I continue to love the way the dreams themselves are presented.

The dream makers themselves are an interesting enough bunch, I'm especially fond of Xeni's off beat style

However, it is clear that the writer's didn't have quite the same ingenious spark that they did when writing for the Emotions. As a result, the climatic decision and emotional resolution lack some of that heft of the movies.

In particular it seemed that the main conflict between the dream maker's was resolved a little too cleanly, without our protagonist really learning a true lesson.

So in all, it is certainly not a bad little watch, but didn't wow me the way the two movies did.

The Inside Out Docuseries

I won't say it's as amazing as the movies, but as someone that really loves both of them, I think this is worth giving a story of Dream Productions. Dream Productions is an enjoyable miniseries that expands of what it's like in a dream studio. I honestly would've preferred this as a series of shorts where we get segments of dreams. The most we get here is just a documentary plot. But I can forgive this for setting a good representation of dreams with a decently told story, enjoyable characters, and of course, amazing animation that even contributes the world of the studio. If you loved the movies, I think you will enjoy this one too. Even if it is a short series with just four episodes, I believe you will have a good time how it expands the world of Riley's mind. Do I think it's as spectacular as the movies? Obviously not. But I believe it is worth giving a better detail as part of the movies.

FUNNY AND ENTERTAINING.

Funny and entertaining. It's a series that works very well for children and perhaps adults, although I thought it needed a few more episodes because it's very fun and simple and with the Pixar formula that we're already used to.

Synopsis: Riley's growing up and her Core Emotions are on the job helping her navigate, but now Paula faces a nightmare of her own; her signature combination of dreams featuring Rainbow Unicorn and copious amounts of glitter just isn't working anymore.

Dreamy? Maybe a Little

Let's be honest-spinoff miniseries from major franchises often feel like unnecessary add-ons. They usually ride on the coattails of the main story without adding much substance. So I was surprised when Dream Productions, Pixar's series set in the world of Inside Out, turned out to be a genuinely enjoyable watch.

Released on Disney+ in December 2024, Dream Productions cleverly positions itself between the events of Inside Out and Inside Out 2, but manages to stand on its own without relying too heavily on nostalgia. The story focuses on Paula Persimmon (voiced by Paula Pell), an old-school dream director in Riley's mind, and her collaboration and occasional tension with the enthusiastic daydreamer Xeni (Richard Ayoade). Told in a mockumentary style that gives off strong The Office vibes, the show pulls back the curtain on Riley's dream-making department, showing us just how much behind-the-scenes brainpower is working to keep her emotional world afloat.

What I really appreciated was that Dream Productions didn't try to outdo the emotional weight of the films. Instead, it leaned into the idea that not every part of Riley's journey needs to be a dramatic ordeal. Sometimes, it's the little quirks, like the way her brain processes dreams or how her subconscious deals with change that are the most fascinating. It gave us more of those fleeting, imaginative corners of Riley's mind we only caught glimpses of in the movies, and it made the world feel bigger without feeling bloated.

The voice cast is top tier, with familiar voices like Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, and Lewis Black returning, but it's Paula Pell and Richard Ayoade who carry the heart and humor of the show. The animation is on point, and Nami Melumad's funky, jazzy score gives the whole thing a unique energy that helps set it apart from the films.

So while I went in a skeptic, Dream Productions won me over. It may not be essential viewing for Inside Out fans, but if you're looking for something clever, heartfelt, and just plain fun, it's a surprising little gem that proves even side stories can shine.

fun, just don't think about it too hard

Dream Productions seems like a genius idea at first. Riley's emotion-characters run things when she's awake, but who's in charge when she's asleep and there's no conscious control?

Answer: a Hollywood-type production company that generates her dreams each night! Cute idea, huh?

The problem comes from the underlying logic. The show explains briefly that dreams are memories that need to be "processed" (probably scientifically true) but then the story logic assumes the purpose of dreams is for Riley to like them and remember them. But dreams are most often forgotten, and their purpose is not to please the dreamer. If that were the case, how do you explain nightmares?

And speaking of that, I was waiting for the "nightmare director" to get in on the fun but it never happened. That would undermine the logic of the whole thing.

Another problem is, the dreams presented didn't seem like authentic dreams. They weren't random and bizarre enough, and far too literal. Everyone in the audience obviously knows what dreams are like, so this was a glaring problem.

I think this concept needed a rethink to make it more authentic to what dreams are actually like and the psychological purpose they serve. Too bad, because the Inside Out movies are pretty good at this kind of authenticity.

DREAM PRODUCTIONS - 8/10 - From the world of Inside Out

This miniseries packs it all in. Four episodes about a film production company that makes the dreams in our heads? You bet they pull out all the stops. Every genre is in here.

Documentary is the framework of the script. Thriller? The nightmare/sleep walking scene. Heist? The climax of the story. Comedy is in all the references made for the adult audiences who would better understand the film industry and the psychology of the brain.

The Pixar team effortlessly pulls these aspects together. This series is fun and lighthearted, while still handling deep topics of childhood and humanity. Being only 4 episodes, it's low commitment, and easy to just sit down and watch with your kids. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Pixar took every care with this miniseries that they do with their full length films. The only reason this isn't a film, is the spinoff nature of the main characters. We still see Joy, Sadness, and the rest of the headquarters crew, but the crew of Dream Productions is the main focus. I hope Pixar sees how great this is, because it is just the tip of the iceberg for stories from Riley's brain. We don't need an Inside Out 4, 5, or 6.

And I must have gotten the Pixar dust in my eyes, because this had me tearing up by the end.

Worse than i expected

When i was building Lego, my sister suddendly appeard out of nowhere and strated watching that show, and it was annoying,i had to tell her to stop but she did not listent, i saw some people saying that this show will be bad, and they were right, this is not whorth watching it, i was so furioso i will tell someone that they have to tell to cancel dream productions, because it was annoying for lego builders, and there was too much talikng and not tellin what they do in dream productions, and some of the reviews were written by 5 year olds, it was still better than Megamind vs the doom syndicate but i still think these cringe disney adults should stop.
