Brilliant documentary

I am not generally a fan of environmental documentaries; many make a case by documenting often horrifying facts with no intent beyond good journalism or advocacy. As effective as this can be (e.g. Gasland), it's not art. The Breach is an exception; it's excellent storytelling that portrays the mutually beneficial relationship between salmon and humans, and leads us gradually to an implied call to arms. While I had some familiarity with a few of the issues involving salmon survival (dams, fish farms, fish ladders), The Breach clearly brought the impact to life, and I learned things I hadn't known before. I think the film succeeds with the gimmick of telling the story from the salmon's point of view. In any case, the cinematography is gorgeous, and The Breach demonstrates the critical importance of saving one of the last bodies of water where salmon and other wildlife can still thrive.

Excellent: Informative & Inspiring

I love this film by Mark Titus.

I particularly appreciate the balance Mark has struck between sharing factual information but not overwhelming us with grim messages of the salmon's disappearance. Sometimes too much bad news leaves people uninspired to take action. I finished watching this film feeling compelled to take action on behalf of the wild salmon (which as the film shows is really taking inspired action on behalf of ourselves as a human race).

I now know where to buy the wild salmon I want and I feel good every time I purchase it, for the salmon themselves, for our environment, for the people of Alaska (Washington state, etc.), and for the whole world.

These are the decisions of our time: Choosing sustainability and living in harmony. This is the future if there is to be one.

Great Documentary

I am a fishing guide in Alaska and have know Mark Titus for several years, he and I share the same interest in wild salmon. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to see the full film at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, it is a magnificent story and very well done and hopefully will make more people aware of the plight of our wild salmon. It is my hope that more damns will come down and more rivers will be opened to allow these mighty fish to continue to thrive.

This is an award winning film and deserves all the credit it has gotten, please make a point to see and live this film.

Thanks Mark Titus and crew for making more people aware!

Highly Recommend

The Breach is an important and enjoyable film with a message that's accessible for everyone. As we learn more about food - where it comes from, how it's harvested, who is harvesting it - this is a great start in terms of understanding the impacts of ocean-farm salmon fishing and mining in the interconnected waterways.

Mark Titus educates with a personal touch by including a terrific cast of characters who live this battle every day. The passion of the people in the film is enough to make even the most ardent naysayers take another look.

I've seen it twice and have been telling my friends to watch it. The time is now!
