When I sat down to the watch the 2025 horror movie "Leprechaun: The Beginning", I figured that the movie would be tied in with the "Leprechaun" franchise that had Warwick Davis in the role of the leprechaun. Alas, "Leprechaun: The Beginning" had nothing to do with that franchise. And the glorious 2.7 rating that the movie had snagged, when I sat down to watch it, definitely served as a warning sign of the level of entertainment this movie would prove to be.
The storyline in "Leprechaun: The Beginning", as written by Alessandro Di Giuseppe put together a script and storyline that, while being pretty straightforward, just simply was too generic.
I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list, and that was actually the best thing about the ordeal that is "Leprechaun: The Beginning". I do enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen. The acting performances in the movie were a mixed bag of nuts; some of the performances were okay, while others were wooden and lifeless.
The first time you see the leprechaun pretty much set the bar of the movie extremely low, because they had painted the face and part of the neck greenish, but forgotten about the rest of the neck and the hands, which were the actor's own skin tone. It was just such a horrible mistake to make.
The movie's cover was actually the best thing about the entire ordeal.
This is definitely not a movie that I would recommend you to waste 87 minutes of your life on. Some of us virtually suffered through this, so you don't have to; you're quite welcome.
My rating of director Rahul Gandhi's 2025 movie "Leprechaun: The Beginning" lands on a generous two out of ten stars.

This daft movie is 100% missible. So missible, in fact, that you can. . .miss that you gave it a miss, so then in some weeks/months you slip up and watch it and then kick yourself with "How could I? Did someone spike my drink or what?"
What happened is that you are human and so erring comes with the territory.
When I fall down that hole, instead of kicking myself, I let it serve as a reminder that I need to read some more Plato. That way I flip a negative into a positive.
Can ya dig it?

First and foremost, do not be misled. This is unrelated to the original Leprechaun movies. The review posted above me pretty much nailed it. This movie is awful. Seriously, it's an hour and a half of my life I'm never getting back. Yet somehow, as big of a trainwreck as it was, I still watched to the end. I think I was just curious if it was going to get worse. Spoiler alert, it did. The effects are terrible. The acting is terrible. The plot is terrible.
Every aspect is trash the acting the writing the design everything. The movie had to have a budget of 5k . Everyone in the film is awful and beyond poorly acted including the three teenage daughters who were in their late 20s early 30s . The actual design of the leprechaun is beyond awful and his acting is trash . The leprechaun looks like a Mardi gras costume party reject . The kills are so awful there's more convincing effects at Halloween spirit stores. This is not funny bad just miserable bad . There is a scene where the leprechauns make up is falling off his face and the accent wtf, why does he sound middle Eastern?. Not just a bad horror film but truly terrible overall. How was this greenlit?
This movie is so worse lmao. My expectations were high and I was disappointed. First of all, the leprechauns design suck so bad and it's horrible. Is this leprechauns or jeepers creepers? The hands don't match the leprechauns face skin color lmao. Is this movie made low budget or what? Do yourself a favor and don't watch this movie unless you have edibles and that's perfect to watch it.
¿Sabías que…?
- ErroresDuring the first sighting of the leprechaun, they forgot to do the makeup on the hands and around the neck.
