A very well directed thriller genre that's fun to watch! Story revolves around a housewife who turns suspicious of the activities of their new neighbour n starts a secret investigation on her own. The theme is basically centred around LGBT honour killing. The movie is a little lengthier n gets a little boring in between but otherwise a very good movie with unique plot n a nice execution. Last 30 mins climax has been too good. There's no stopping for Malyalam industry, back to back hits. Nazriya, Fahadh's wife is way too cute in this movie. Originally a Malayalam movie dubbed in all South Indian languages including Hindi dubbed as well. Available in Disney HotStar. My ratings 7.5/10!

An intriguing mystery thriller reflecting a social mishap through an alluring storyline.
The story revolves around a closely knitted middle class neighborhood and the eccentric events that happen when an ambiguous family joins them.
The writer trio has conceived the brainchild and triumphed in executing it spectacularly. The visual narration has engrossed the audience to the screen forming a strong backdrop for progress of the story. The innocence and care by the fellow neighbourhood is evident through brilliant casting and sound screenplay.
The first half leaves an eerie room for skepticm, anxiety in the viewers before the intermission. The latter half moves lethargically giving the audience an open pass for arriving at many story conclusions but leverages back on track with a surprising twist in the final 20 minutes leaving a lasting impression that reminds me of the phrase "The tiger leaps two steps back not of fear, but to attack". The tail end sequence will give answers to all the confusions and misinterpretations showing the deadly significance of 'Karma'.
Splendid performance by Nazriya as the bold mischievous young lady marks the ideal response for her brilliance in script selection and the time intervals in her filmography. Basil has effortlessly done the strange characterisation through his witty mannerisms and actions. Sidharth Bharathan has delivered a subtle performance as a nerdy doc. Impressive performances from Akhila Bhargavan,Pooja Mohanraj,Merin Mary Philip,Kottayam Ramesh,Deepak Parambol,Gopan Mangat,Manohari Joy & Jaya Kurup.
Sookshma Darshini will be marked as the hottest golden feather in Happy Hours banner. Brilliant frames by Sharan Velayudhan added with Christo's hooking BGM's and Chaman's meticulous trimming has given an engaging experience. Srik Varier also deserves appreciation for the color effects and the darker tones lifting the mood of the story.
A must theatre experience for a gripping and sound story narration with spellbound performances.

A must-watch thriller with a unique touch! Basil impresses with his distinct acting, and Nazriya delivers a balanced, natural performance without overacting. All the actors have performed exceptionally well, adding depth to the story. The movie stands out with its stunning green visuals, superb locations, and an unexpected twist that keeps you hooked. While the screenplay has a slight lag in pacing, it doesn't overshadow the overall experience. The direction, combined with the atmospheric setting and engaging plot, creates a captivating cinematic journey. A Fantasticalay written screenplay of a much regressive story... The credit for such a movie goes to keep it more guessing till the end which the director has done phenomenonaly.. What more is this thriller does not fall into any particular category or comedy or serious or no police investigation... But it is a crime thriller which is the beauty of such a movie.. But as a crime thriller story enthusiast i was able to guess it in last 20 mins... Till then it was truly mysterious and enjoyable.. Nazriya is an acting and expression queen of malayalam cinema absolutely fitting her stature and right choice of movie for her and the director... Basil Joseph is growing as most bankable actor and such a portrayal of his character with ease.. The supporting characters of Nazriyas friends has done a fantastic work.. Overall an enjoyable thriller though in current progressive world this looks a more regressive story deep rooted in old beliefs and faith which can be cons for this movie..

- 'Sookshma Darshini' directed by MC Jithin starring Basil Joseph and Nazriya Fahadh is a well executed thriller that keeps you hooked until the climax. It has a very interesting plot and the best part of the film is how it is made , the technical aspects of the film were top notch. Loved the direction by MC Jithin , lot's of attention to detail, he utilises every character and every plot points and gives them a conclusion at the end. The background score by Christo Xavier is brillaint , the score added a mystery and curios vibe to the film and further enchanced it's thrills. The editing by Chaman Chakko is also a standout with lot's of unique transitions and seamless editing. Finally the performers on the screen ; Basil Joseph and Nazriya has done an excellent job with their characters. Hat's off to Basil Joseph for playing a very different character and Nazriya for selecting good scripts. The performances by Akhila Bargavan, Pooja Mohanraj, Deepak Parambol and Merin Phillip was also great. Overall the film is suspenseful and entertaining at the same time and it is a perfect blend of mystery and comedy. Good watch.

Malayalam cinema has long been celebrated for its focus on compelling storytelling and realism, and Sookshma Darshini is yet another testament to this legacy. In an industry that prioritizes narratives over glitz, this film stands out as a thrilling masterpiece that captures the audience's imagination without relying on the allure of big-name stars.
What sets Sookshma Darshini apart is how it addresses a growing critique in recent hit films-the lack of strong female performances. This movie not only acknowledges this gap but fills it brilliantly with well-etched female characters brought to life by exceptional performances. The women in this film don't just exist to complement the story; they drive it with their nuanced acting, proving once again why Malayalam cinema is known for crafting powerful roles for women.
The gripping narrative, coupled with the seamless integration of both male and female performances, creates a balanced, immersive experience. It's a film that redefines expectations, reminding viewers why Malayalam cinema is often referred to as the flagbearer of meaningful, story-driven filmmaking in India.
If you're a fan of thrillers and appreciate the artistry of a well-rounded cast, Sookshma Darshini is not to be missed. It's not just a movie; it's a celebration of the depth and quality that Malayalam cinema continues to deliver to audiences worldwide.

The screenwriting's ability to craft and sustain suspense, particularly during pivotal moments in the script, is remarkable and shall serve as a valuable lesson for aspiring writers.
Aside from the initial thirty minutes, the story captivates with consistent developments in the plot.
Whether it's the characters getting involved in a game of cat and mouse or some significant revelations that propel the story forward, the movie tend to excel at keeping our attention in check the whole time.
Having said that, I would have preferred a darker tone. The subject matter tackled is quite sensitive and calls for a more serious approach.
While I liked the overall story, the inclusion of humorous elements, even if they lean towards the dark side, felt misplaced given the weight of the themes being addressed over here.

Sookshama Darshini, directed by MC Jithin is an enjoyable and twisty mystery with an end that you never see coming.
Stuffed with red herrings, sub-plots and many plausible explanations, this is a wonderul whodunnit that doesn't miss a beat.
With Priya, played with great aplomb by Nazariya, we finally get a fleshed-out, homegrown, female detective whose suspicious gaze no one can escape.
A special shoutout to Sidharth Bharathan for being equal parts menacing and comedic and to Basil Joseph for playing against his type.
Here's hoping there will be a sequel and we can see more of Priya Antony cracking mysteries.

The movie was good. A woman living with her husband and having friends in the neighborhood starts to notice something suspicious about their newly arrived neighbor. Determined to uncover the truth, she digs deeper and finds herself entangled in a mysterious situation. Nazriya Nazim and Basil Joseph delivered outstanding performances, bringing their characters to life with great depth and nuance. The film is filled with unexpected twists that keep you on the edge of your seat. However, at times, the music felt somewhat cartoonish, which, in my opinion, detracted from the overall thrill and suspense of the film. Despite this, I couldn't find any other negatives. It's a nice movie with a captivating storyline and excellent acting.

A nice mix of suspense and some situational comedy but I didn't think it was as great as the reaction this is getting. For me, this didn't really engage me with its suspense as I was looking at my watch throughout the movie, even though I didn't think it was bad. Nazriya is back after some time with a pretty good title role, but performance-wise Basil did really great mixing a bit of charm and mystery even while his general perception of a comedian is not entirely missing. But, really it was three supporting cast, Sidharth, Pooja, and Akhila who made this entertaining for me with the situational comedy and their quirks. There was a lot in the movie, especially in the beginning that is pointless and just drags the movie. There are some detailing in it that were impressive but also not focused on too much so that those who look closely will get it. The nonchalant mention of Priyadarshini's academic background makes it a solid reason for her to be suspicious of what's going on. But when the film doesn't intentionally reveal it like that, she just feels like a nosy neighborhood woman who stumbled on to stuff because of her boredom and obsession rather than intelligence. There should've been a proper focus on stuff like that without which, the character remained a bit annoying even till the end. There are a few things that the film made a point of portraying in the correct way without making a big fuss out of it which was great. Overall, it was entertaining but overlong.

Sookshmadarshini is an intriguing thriller which balances the thrills with the fun elements really well. It has everything which is missing in today's most films, i.e. The writing and the conviction in making an atmospheric thriller
Basil Joseph looks like an average Indian guy who plays a mysterious man with suspicious personality remarkably well. The casting is brilliant of the film. Nazriya plays the nosy woman who has curiosity about other people's affair is so well cast. She brings the needed characteristics to her character.
The writers of the film Athul Ramachandran and Libin TB, two writers, have deftly dissected a scenario and reconstructed it into a film narrative. The direction by MC is so cleverly done that you keep guessing till the very end and the climax becomes very unpredictable and gives a satisfactory climax.
Sookshmadarshini is an edge of the seat thriller which makes you hooked till the very end and keeps you entertained throughout its run time. Malayalam Films have always been technically brilliant and this one is no different. Its a must watch and should not be missed at all.

Sookshmadarshini sets out to be a compelling thriller, focusing on the "what" and "why" rather than the typical "whodunnit." However, the lack of emotional depth and character development undermines its potential, leaving it a missed opportunity in the genre.
In Sookshmadarshini, the writers incorporated distractions and left clues for the audience. But by the end, you might wonder: was all this necessary? Was it exaggerated? The climax feels like a forced attempt to deliver a twist, making the payoff less satisfying.
Additionally, Nazriya is not entirely convincing as Priya-a super-observant, Lady Holmes-like housewife. Her portrayal feels more like her past characters, such as Jeena in Neram or Pooja in Om Shanthi Oshana. This lack of transformation dilutes the experience, especially in a genre where mood and atmosphere are critical.
Take, for example, Sharafudheen. In Bougainvillaea and Hello Mummy, his contrasting performances highlight how an actor can completely transform their mannerisms and attitude, creating a clear distinction between characters.
Even a static shot from either film would showcase the depth of his acting. This kind of immersion helps the audience bond with the character. Unfortunately, Priya's character in Sookshmadarshini doesn't achieve this, making it difficult to separate Nazriya's performance from her previous roles.
In the end, Sookshmadarshini succeeds in keeping the audience intrigued, even if it stumbles in emotional depth and character development. It's a decent thriller that might not break new ground but manages to hold attention, especially in its well-executed final moments.

Where do I even begin? One of the most excruciatingly boring movies I've ever had the misfortune of sitting through. From start to finish, it felt like my time was being drained by some sort of cinematic black hole. The plot? Nonexistent. The characters? Completely one-dimensional and unrelatable. The dialogue? Cringe-worthy at best.
The pacing is so slow that I found myself checking the time every five minutes, hoping it would be over soon. Every scene feels unnecessarily drawn out, and the "twists" are not only predictable but laughable. The special effects look like they were slapped together in someone's basement over the weekend, and the acting is flat at best. I can't even blame the actors entirely; the script is so poorly written that they probably didn't know what to do with it either.
Save yourself the frustration and find literally anything else to watch.

One after another, Malayalam movies are hitting home runs, and as the year nears its end, here comes yet another banger. What I love about Malayalam cinema is how even the biggest actors are willing to take part in small movies with great plots.
In a typical neighborhood, Manuel returns with his mother to settle down. Priyadarshini, however, harbors her doubts about Manuel's intentions and suspects he has committed a crime. Along with her friends, she starts snooping around to uncover the truth.
The real star of this movie is its screenplay, which keeps you glued to the screen. From the very first scene, Priyadarshini's character is firmly established-nothing escapes her eagle eyes. While you may have plenty of questions throughout the narrative, hold your horses-everything will be answered. The film keeps your guessing game strong and delivers a suspenseful payoff that's worth it.
Nazriya Nazim makes a phenomenal comeback with this film. She shoulders the movie effortlessly, never going overboard, and balances her cuteness with maturity in just the right amounts. Basil Joseph has truly leveled up his game, portraying a unique character with utmost earnestness. The ensemble of supporting actors is equally commendable.
A big shoutout to MC Jithin, who has showcased his directorial prowess by crafting this engaging family thriller. The background score (BGM) elevates the movie at the right moments, and the situational comedy paired with realistic dialogues makes it thoroughly entertaining. Additionally, the film subtly addresses a taboo subject with ease and grace.
This is a movie that deserves to be watched on the big screen. There's no surprise it's creating a stir at the box office-it absolutely deserves the acclaim. Here's hoping it doesn't get remade in Hindi!

Sookshma Darshini (2024) is a Malayalam thriller that has captivated audiences with its unique blend of suspense, mystery, and social commentary. The film follows Priyadarshini (Nazriya Nazim), a curious and observant woman, as she delves into the enigmatic behavior of a new family that moves into her neighborhood.
One of the film's strengths lies in its well-crafted screenplay. The narrative unfolds gradually, building tension and intrigue with each passing scene. The characters are complex and relatable, adding depth to the story. Nazriya Nazim delivers a stellar performance as Priyadarshini, capturing her character's intelligence and determination with finesse. Basil Joseph, in a supporting role, shines as the enigmatic figure at the heart of the mystery.
The film's direction is commendable, with Sharan Velayudhan's cinematography adding to the suspenseful atmosphere. The music score by Christo complements the narrative effectively, enhancing the emotional impact of key scenes.
However, Sookshma Darshini is not without its flaws. The pacing can be uneven at times, with some scenes feeling drawn out. Additionally, the resolution of the central mystery, while satisfying, may leave some viewers wanting more.
Despite these minor shortcomings, Sookshma Darshini is a captivating thriller that is well worth watching. Its exploration of social issues, coupled with its gripping narrative and strong performances, make it a standout film in the Malayalam cinema landscape.

A gripping thriller from start to finish, this film delivers chills at several key moments. Nazriya proves her mettle as an actress, seamlessly picking up where she left off after her hiatus.
Basil Joseph once again reassures his audience that a ticket to his film is a guaranteed worthwhile experience.
The narrative keeps viewers on the edge of their seats, with a climax that is nearly impossible to predict. Following in the footsteps of films like Drishyam, this thriller stands out by avoiding excessive family drama and focusing on its core plot. Basil showcases a never-seen-before intensity in his performance, tapping into a wilder, more complex side of his acting talent.
What truly sets this film apart is its exploration of the motive behind the crime. The story bravely addresses a socially relevant issue-one often regarded as taboo-sparking the kind of dialogue that society desperately needs. The thoughtful integration of this theme adds depth to an already engaging storyline.
With its tight screenplay, excellent performances, and a thrilling pace, this movie is a must-watch for fans of the genre. Don't miss this exciting ride!

Sookshmadarshini (2024) :
Brief Review -
Although a bit late, this is Malayalam cinema's Rear Window (1954). M. C. Jithin's mystery thriller might be immature regarding the actual reason behind the entire setup, which still isn't acceptable in our society, but it wins the battle with detailing in plot and screenplay. The idea of Alzheimer's is old, but the trick here seems new. As expected, we have an old lady for that, which makes it a little predictable for smart movie buffs, but others are definitely in for a surprise. Hitchcock's Rear Window, based on "I Had to Be Murdered," featured an injured man looking out his neighbor's window, while Sookshmadarshini has a housewife doing just that. It's also a new theory, as I know some of my neighborhood ladies have this habit of sneaking into others' houses just to check what's going on. It's got nothing to do with murder or a great conspiracy, but women are like that. This natural flow helps the film build some realistic tension, and soon Priya brings her girlfriends in for a group investigation. Athul Ramachandran and Libin T. B's screenplay is filled with small details that you might miss on the first viewing and then notice as smart nuances in the second. There is a reason behind everything, and that's the most important aspect of a murder mystery when the main suspect tries to cover up. The suspense here is worth the wait, if not the reason, since I am not much in favor of LGBT-related excuses leading to honor killings or prestige issues, especially in 2024. Basil Joseph and Nazriya Nazim lead the show with their excellent performances, avoiding any highly dramatic moments. Again, it's all about noting those small nuances. Jithin's film is a nice thriller with a good twist that leaves you a bit curious with the ending frame of the car (which is also the opening scene), but it could have been 15 minutes shorter. The first half hour doesn't feel necessary now when I look back at the entire narrative. Nevertheless, it's a super-fine flick!
RATING - 7/10*

Like all other Malayalam thriller moves, this one takes its sweet time to build the characters and situationships. But movie paces gradually and you wont even realize that you are in 5th gear going for the bombastic climax sequence. They took a trivial social-cultural aspect and made it into a movie.
My rating
Triller- 9 / 10 For most part the movie keeps you guessing what is happening.

Acting - 9/10 All characters (leads and others) gave their best performances.

This movie gives me a confusion of blood or Red wine had to taste it anyway. This movie will fool you at the end And I don't like that feeling.
It tasted like ?!
Well written edited directed
Music was great but sometimes unbearable just the proportion missing
Nazria- very Unique The central theme is not new You don't have to go into depth on any character Mathews character and acting seems to me very appealing and natural well done
They wisely chose it as a Thriller but you have to find it what kind of .
Basil in new shoes.
Random Comedies till the end.
Overly influenced by social media mobile phones just hate it ..

Sookshmadarshini (Microscope) is a perfect blend of humor, mystery and suspense that will keep you occupied till the end. A well-crafted performances by Nazriya Nazim and Basil Joseph that is supported by a strong script and great storytelling that will leave you spellbound at the climax.
The initial few minutes of this film might not be that promising but as the movie progresses it becomes more and more thrilling and interesting. Hats off to Director MC who has perfectly executed a gripping story by Libin T. B and Athul Ramachandran. Moreover, the background score complements the suspense which will keep you engaged throughout the film.
Revealing even a little bit of the plot would steal the essence from this film that is without any doubt a must watch Malayalam Movie of 2024.

TOO SILLY A REASON. 10/10 for storytelling, acting, camera-work, direction, production, casting, thrill and mystery. This was Drishyam-1 level thrill and mystery. As an audince you will be so sure that you know whats going to happen next but BAM you'll be wrong; it was so crazy that they were able to do this. The only downside was the main reason for all the happenings occuring in the movie. I think even the movie director knew it was a weak point so they did'nt touch upon it much. I'm sure if the they chose a different reason for the plot this movie would have been the top movie of the year like Drishyam. What a total miss. Hope they make more movies like this but with a more proper base plot. Nevertheless it was a good watch.

Sookhmadarshini has been widely praised across reviews, but for me, it felt like just another average movie. Despite all the hype, I found nothing exceptional or particularly memorable about it. The narrative lacked depth, and the execution failed to leave a lasting impression. While the performances and visuals were decent, they weren't enough to elevate the overall experience. The film might work for some viewers, but personally, it didn't resonate. It's an okay watch at best, but not something I'd consider as groundbreaking as the reviews suggest. Its yet another average movie with ordinary acting and execution.
