I am really interested in watching court shows. I watch Judge Mathis, Judge Ross, Judge Milian, Judge Judy, and more recently Judge Jerry. Most of those Judges are very intelligent and gain experience and knowledge as time goes by. They are organized and have certain ways of doing their work to best come to a verdict or decision. Judge Karen is very different in the way she does her job. I do not know how she comes to her conclusion. It seems she does not know what she is doing. Her verdicts seem to be off the majority of the time. Whatever she does to help herself in determining an outcome she needs to stop and find a new way of doing things. She needs to listen to litigants and focus on what they say. Other great judges speak out loud to themselves to better try to visualize both parties or litigants situation that brought them to court. A good Judge in my eyes puts themselves in the eyes of both parties and has great communication. Judge Karen seems to think she is too good for that and cares more how she looks in the public's eyes, which backfires and makes her act and become non-professional. She needs to learn that having a real gavel does not make her high and mighty. I really want to hear the other Judges reviews of her and suggestions to her. I cannot watch her she because it literally makes me sick how she can be. Her courtroom is a circus and is an insult to others that take their Career serious. I am starting to believe that the guests in the show are there as punishment, and she should understand that most people laugh at her not with her.
I am so upset over Judge Karen's decision today. She chose to teach the
plaintiff a lesson because she loaned the defendant $4000 after only 3
dates to purchase a car and he was to repay on payday.....Judge said
the plaintiff needed to learn a lesson..... first off this was a "verbal" contract and the defendant paid her $1000 (which proves he knew it
wasn't a gift)..... I understand why the judge wanted her to "learn"
not to loan a boyfriend money but what lesson did it teach him? Judge
should've just went by the evidence not her place to "teach" a
lesson......

I've never understood the "my courtroom" attitude, condescension and disdain some/most of these tv judges exhibit...as though their job is a favor to the litigant. I don't generally take issue with her rulings; I DO find her to be rude, dramatic, condescending, patronizing.. I can go on. The courtroom is dramatic itself without the extras...maybe it's necessary for ratings, but Mathis is even MORE dramatic, entertaining and loads more respectful doing it. You leave with your dignity in tact .. unless you try to play him. Then you leave in pieces. Sis can learn from a brotha. I think she's the one who says purpose of court is to make you whole or restore you to wholeness or some such. You don't do that awarding damages but damaging individuals in the process.
This show makes me sick. Almost every decision she makes is SO WRONG. I'm not sure how the contestants are compensated but if the show pays the money sued for no wonder she hardly ever rules for the plaintive or dismisses both sides. She acts like she's stupid, interrupts to much, doesn't use common sense and asks for impossible "proof" when common sense should prevail. Don't ever go to her if you want justice! Awful, awful awful. If you loan someone money and it's obvious it's a loan she won't rule for you because she calls you stupid for the loan. I just can't watch it anymore and will not watch the advertisements or trust them because of how bad she is.
Similar to many other shows of this type, the show is entirely scripted, using outrageous complaints, and people who simply cannot act. It's an embarrassment for anyone involved in its production. With excellent legal-based fare on TV, it's incredible that this nonsense has found any audience. In the episode that I'm watching currently, a guy claimed that his ankle was broken by another fraternity member, and he wanted less than $150 in damages. The first case involved a woman who claimed that her husband-to-be faked his death, and had no proof that an money was expended, or that any sort of promise had been made. As I mentioned earlier, absolute nonsense. The show is produced by "Entertainment Studios", an obvious clue that no one involved with this mess has any legal standing whatsoever.
