When Leopold, played by Fritz Karl, is standing in the ''White Horse Inn'' and says ''The waiter is a human being'', a portrait of Peter Alexander is hanging next to him. Peter Alexander was playing the same character of Leopold Brandmeyer in the 1960-adaptation of the ''White Horse Inn'', which is also set in modern times.

The building that was used as "The White Horse Inn" is the former Brewery pub "Lueg", which is exactly on the other side of the Lake Wolfgangsee, where the actual "White Horse Inn".

Many of the original songs from the play are set in this movie for different characters:

• "Im weißen Rößl am Wolfgangssee" was originally sang by Otto Siedler and Josepha Vogelhuber, here by Wilhelm Gieseke, who only had lines in the original operetta, and Josepha Vogelhuber, later by the cast.
• "Das muss was wunderbares sein" was originally sang by Leopold, here it is sang by Otto Siedler and Ottilie Gieseke
• "Im Salzkammergut, da ka' mer gut lustig sein" was originally sang by Josepha Vogelhuber, here by Sigismund Sülzheimer, Otto Siedler and partly by Josepha Vogelhuber.
• "Das ist der Zauber der Saison" was originally performed by the ensemble choir, here it was sang by Sigismund Sülzheimer
• "Und als der Herrgott Mai gemacht" was originally sang by Sigismund Sülzheimer and Klärchen, here it was sang by the background band "The Dead Lovers" in the background of a scene
• "Oh du mein Österreich", which was sang here by Josepha Vogelhuber was used as an opening for the appearance of Emperor Franz Joseph I, the song is an unofficial national anthem of Austria during it patriotic sound.
• "'s ist einmal im Leben so", sang here by Otto Siedler and Ottilie Gieseke was originally sang by Emperor Franz Joseph I, who was a character in the end of the play.

The only songs which are set with the correct characters are "Aber meine Herrschaften, nur hübsch gemütlich", used briefly as a sample sang by Leopold, "Zuschau'n kann i net" also sang by Leopold, "Die ganze Welt ist himmelblau", sang by Otto Siedler and "Was kann der Sigismund dafür, daß er so schön ist" sang by Sigismund Sülzheimer.

The region of Salzkammergut, where the movie is set and filmed, is known for its heavy rains in the summer. Therefore the original operetta also features a rain song "Wenn es hier mal richtig regnet" (When it is really raining here). According to the film makers, a version of this song was also recorded for this movie, in case it would rain during the filming. But because there was no rain at that time the song was canceled from the movie.

Tobias Licht later played the role of the waiter Leopold in the stage performance of the original play "The White Horse Inn" at the "Staatstheater Darmstadt".
